JW, I didn't turn the vet into the County, she told me she called the County Animal Shelter to report the missing dog, but she kept my dog, instead of turning it over to the County, because one time she turned a dog over, and by the time the real owner found out about it, 2 days later ... it had been put to sleep! So, to release my dog to ME, she said she had to report to the County that she had proof I had rabies tags for my dog. OK, I get that, and I did it. What ticked me off was that after I paid for the shot(s), and came back with an appt. like she told me, THEN she changed the story and said I had to have the appt. THAT DAY! I was a lot of driving back and forth that made me mad. But, in the end, I realize it was my own fault.
Colleen, as far as I know, Smokey has never run away from storms. It was the fireworks that caused him to take off. I suspect that neighbor was doing a lot the nights I was gone, or he would have simply gone under the deck. Something was different that made him leave. I'd been home with them shooting off fireworks more to the beginning of the month, and he just whined he wanted to come into the house, and that was it. Later, when he was outside, he was ok with it again, maybe because he knew I was here in case it got too bad for him to handle. Anyhow, now I know he's afraid, and I will deal with it.
Beautiful day once again. It's 69 right now, and going down to 58 tonight. I just love this weather, perfect in my opinion!
