my 2" thick foam cover for the pond and stream worked..... no ice and the enclosure i made for the bead filter that also houses the electric motor casing and cooling side is keeping the filter warmer than the outside air it seems.... i'll have to shut down in the spring to fix my pressure gauge or just assume 30psi is zero. the 1st cold spell we had got ice in the gauge and spun the shaft so the needle is off by 30 psi lmao.

photos of the pond cover and enclosure.

I just took the temperature inside the filter enclosure and it's 8F warmer in there at 40F while the outside is 32F, the electric motor is partially in there, only the casing and back fan. I put the foam over it in such a way that the impeller side and that fan is outside the housing. My water temp is 38F.

Glad its working for you, my pond is too large to cover. But theres no need to the fish do just fine in the cold waters of winter. its what fish / wild life does.

My lil fantail stock pond is a warm 37f. Pond breather running, solid ice top.
We are having a warm spell, might get some melting, then back down in temperature.

It's about 12°F today. But it looks like we'll see 40's on Thursday and Friday. Maybe I'll take advantage and get a hike in. Temps go right back down after that.

Temps could get into the upper 40°F's today! And then tomorrow we drop. The low temp tomorrow is gonna be near 0°F, and then we've got windchills that could be as cold as -20°F :cold:
