Wet and getting wetter, what can I say? I'll just say we have a huge amount of clover growing out there in our grass. Need to mow but the bees sure love that clover. Must be too cool and wet today for them tho cuz I don't see a one.

Guess what....It rained again today. Tuesday it rained so much and so hard, it caused some major flash flooding. Just one county over from us got 6 inches of rain. I start to get worried if it doesn't rain everyday now. I start to think something is wrong. The wife is off all next week. In the past 2 years, she hasn't taken any time off so she decided that this year, she was going to take the time off that she is allowed to take per her contract. She is going to do as little as possible and we are pulling out I think, Wed, evening to go camping for the rest of the week and weekend. I'll drive from the campground to work. It won't be too bad and I can smell like camp fire smoke. I love it. We went up to Saylorville Reservoir today to see the spillway. They have the dam running wide open to let out as much water as they can. I think they are up to 18,000 cfps. All the river around here are running just at flood stage or a bit above. Will be interesting to see what happens with the rain. If we get much more it will push the lake over the emergency spillway. It has happened twice in the past 20 years.

JW. Yes we will be safe where we live. The first time it went over the emergency spillway in 93', we were living in Des Moines and the whole city was without running water for 11 days. We brought in water from a neighboring town in 55 gallon barrels, we had 3 barrels a week. I got real good at taking showers on 2 gallons or my mom would send me outside to shower during the rain storms. That year the levy around the water treatment plant wasn't high enough to stop the water.

Well that's good but what you had to go through when you were younger taught you to appreciate not having to worry about flooding now I bet! Would not be fun to shower in the rain............a bit chilly unless during a hot summer :)

Ryan, looks like we are in for more storms for the next couple of days.
Sounds like after Monday we should be looking at some dry weather. :) You should have some dry weather for camping. Have a good time!
We would like to drive over and see the spillway too.

Haver, yes you are right. It poured here this evening and then it cleared up. Miss Eden wanted to play outside so being the parents that we are, we let her. She was stomping in all the puddles, playing in the mud, just having a blast. She is only young once so we will let her be a kid and have fun. A very nice double rainbow came out after the rain stopped. Have another line of storms moving coming thru in about an hour. More storms tomorrow afternoon as well.. Pond has been doing great. All this rain has really made the water super clear. Plants are going nuts. Hopefully tomorrow in the morning I can finish waxing the camper and getting a few projects finished up around the house.

Hot and muggy, then over casted with darker skies, few sprinkles then wonderful pond expanding weather for me all afternoon!!! What can I say, I live in Michigan and we get it all over the spectrum!!!! I'm so excited I trenched out the mouth of my stream today and added 45 more gallons of water area!!!! Plus added a sheet water fall just before my slate bridge. My bridge goes over the new deep part (2Wx3Lx15"D) of the stream/mouth so my fish will be able to swim under the bridge!! I'm GEEKED OUT!!!! At this rate I'll not finish until winter!!!
