The last couple of days have been in the low 90's. Tomorrow high of 88. The weather here isn't usually this warm this early into summer, it's times like this that I wish I had a/c.

Hey Garden Girl!! I am about 100 miles from the Wild Horse Border crossing to Medicine Hat Alberta. Sorry it took so long to respond, but I have been very busy, between work, yard, and house, these days. Are you thinking of comming to visit Canada?? :)

The weather here has been very HOT, close to 100 degrees the last few days, and the air conditioner is in place and working well, thank Goodness, or me and the puppies would melt away into a puddle for sure! Ha ha ha.

This morning we had a light rain, cooled things off nice, and the temperture should only get to 84 degrees this afternoon. The horrid hungry mosquito's are every where these days, and they follow me into the house, no where is safe!! Everybody in town complaining of mosquito's since the big flood made conditions just right for them to breed.

I might get to Canada someday after I retire.lol Not anytime soon. Raining here 72F. Off and On showers all day. Some local cities have cancelled fireworks and are rescheduling them. Doesn't seem like 4th July without fireworks. We always shot them off in the rain. Less chance of catching grass on fire.

2 days of sunshine... then wakes up to an overcast 7/4. No kidding, we have not had 5 days of sunshine in a row so far this year.

FLIES MESSIN UP YOUR OUTDOOR DINING?.... SOMETHING TO TRY....

Zip Lock Baggies...........who knew?

We went with friends to a restaurant on Sunday for lunch and sat in the patio section beside the store. We happened to no...tice zip lock baggies pinned to a post and a wall. The bags were half filled with ...water, each contained 4 pennies, and they were zipped shut. Naturally we were curious! The owner told us that these baggies kept the flies away! So naturally we were even more curious! We actually watched some flies come in the open window, stand around on the window sill, and then fly out again. And there were no flies in the eating area! This morning I checked this out on Google.
Below are comments on this fly control idea. I'm now a believer!

Zip-lock water bags: #1 Says: I tried the zip lock bag and pennies this weekend. I have a horse trailer. The flies were bad while I was camping. I put the baggies with pennies above the door of the LQ. NOT ONE FLY came in the trailer. The horse trailer part had many. Not sure why it works but it does!

#2 Says:Fill a zip lock bag with water and 5 or 6 pennies and hang it in the problem area. In my case it was a particular window in my home. It had a slight passage way for insects. Every since I have done that, it has kept flies and wasps away. Some say that wasps and flies mistake the bag for some other insect nest and are threatened.

#3 Says:I swear by the plastic bag of water trick. I have them on porch and basement. We saw these in Northeast Mo. at an Amish grocery store& have used them since. They say it works because a fly sees a reflection& won't come around.

#4 Says:Regarding the science behind zip log bags of water? My research found that the millions of molecules of water presents its own prism effect and given that flies have a lot of eyes, to them it's like a zillion disco balls reflecting light, colors and movement in a dizzying manner. When you figure that flies are prey for many other bugs, animals, birds, etc., they simply won't take the risk of being around that much perceived action. I moved to a rural area and thought these "hillbillies" were just yanking my city boy chain but I tried it and it worked immediately! We went from hundreds of flies to seeing the occasional one, but he didn't hang around long.

H E L P! RAN for my LIFE!! Hundreds of blood sucking vampire mosquitoes tried to EAT me AliVe!! Had to slam the screen doors shut quick and still they followed me, latched onto my arms and legs.... so much for the all natural mosquito patch!

Severe Thunderstorm watch and tornado alert, storms all around, so far non came this way yet....
Currently temperature dropped from today's high of 86, down to only 73 degrees now.

The grass that got flooded last week down by the river is so tall now, can't find the puppies!! Mosquitoes are just unreal right now!! Must make a big fire tonight if I plan to sit outside by the pond!

Have a Happy 4th of July!!!

Last night for the bbq party the weather was perfect! Just enough sunshine to keep us warm w/ a slight breeze. Lit off tons of fireworks and the whole neighborhood was doing the same. Sounded like war of the worlds coming. Now for the cleanup. We all go out and do the best we can to gather all the remnants of the shot up junk from last night. Kind of cool now at 52F but will let the sunshine out this afternoon again up around in the mid 70's. No rain predicted for days :claphands: :claphands: :claphands:

I couldn't find anything my size that would fit in a window, but I did find this one on wheels. I wonder if this would do the job?

Our humidity is usually around 45% in the summer.
Try this one

http://www.globalindustrial.com/g/h...er/champion-cooler-window-evaporative-coolers

They have on that should do that 18500 foot room for under $600

This page tells how well the work at various humidity levels

Oh my Good Lord!! Sweet Jesus save me!!! My streets are flooded now with a flash flood after a heavy downpour during a intense thunderstorm, in the middle of the night!! I just called 911, they said the large parts of city is flooding and took my name and street address..... My front flower bed is under water, it is now a RIVER!! The neighbor right next door is slightly lower then me and his house that got the sewer damage two weeks ago is completely surrounded with water, FLOWING WATER!! Went to move the truck off the flooded street and the water went over my rubber boots!! Now it raining heavy again, will this nightmare in Canada EVER be OVER!!!! The water is getting close to the house, I turned off the power to the front yard cause it is half under water right now!!!! The fish in the front yard pond may very well swim away tonight!!! It's 1:53 am and good thing I don't have to work in the morning, or I would have to call in FLOODED again!!!!

Flash flood is almost over, house and front yard look ok, no water came in my basement, but I am sure people down the street from me got more water in their basements again. One of neighbors cars looked like water was half way up the car door, sure will be water in that car.... at least I was spared again, thank you Jesus!!!
