It was not even up to 70 here today, light rain most of the day, another .8" added to 1.2" yesterday ... yep, it's really wet out there. But, I don't mind. No high winds or storms associated with the rain, just straight down rain, not even heavy rains, just steady. It has stopped for the moment, so going to head outside and replant the one hanging basket that the plant died. Have no idea why, all the others around it are flourishing. Oh well, got new plants today so will get that done so it can try to play catch up. Everything around here is growing great guns. Sure glad I got my yard mowed on Sat. in between the showers! And, loving these cool days and 60 at night! High humidity, but can handle it when the temps are below 85. Dry for the 4th, they are saying, so hoping to see some nice fireworks and listen to a band and have some food at the park just south of where I live. Going with my friend, Joan, and we both love to dance, so watch out Farina! LOL

Hey colleen how close are you to the Montana border? My youngest son is in Kalispell for a few weeks visiting a friend. He said he would be close to the border. I don't know how close.... Just curious. I was reading the history of medicine hat and it was very interesting. Did you know you live in the sunshine city? and the winner of Canadian idol #2 lives there? I have been a little under the weather this week and have spent too much time online.lol And it is raining at my house with more forecasted later in the day. Pulled up from the gulf .

It was in the low 60s this morning. I put on a hooded sweatshirt!

Mitch I don't know what your humidity is like but if it is not too high look into an evaporative/swamp cooler. They are cheap to buy and run. Hmm with a location like water valley ....

Mid 70' again this morning. Rain again!!! Beginning to think we are in pacific northwest! Hopefully tomorrow will be drier as hoping to spend the day on the deck grilling while hubby cuts the neighbors grass! Have most of the new lights up under the canopy but can't figure out the wiring. Tomorrow is another day!

Ha!, Actually we got our name from someone drawing it out of a hat. Exciting, huh?

I haven't thought of a swamp cooler before, I'll have to look into that. We have a big space though, 1 big 1800 sq ft room.

The sort of cooler I am taking about goes on the outside of the house. I blows cooled air in and you need to open a window or two to allow the air to exit. 1800 sq feet is a lot for one.

Something like this but a bit bigger. Cooling is as much about the physical building and its contents being cool as the air. If one lets the building get hot then it is hard to get enough cold air to cool it. We are running a smaller cooler then we used to but turn it on earlier and off later. Sometimes we run it through the night.

They are a bit of a contraption but if the humidity is low enough for them to work they work well. On a really hot day the one in the shop used about 100 gallons of water. They have something like a 1/3 hp fan motor which costs about $15 a month to run.

It was a beautiful day in Illinois today. Sun finally came out in the afternoon, got up to about 82. Beautiful! And, since almost no wind this evening when I got home from work, got the new windmill tower and spinner wire brushed and spray painted. Now just need concrete pad, and new tail fin, and will be able to put it up! Woohoo!!!
