It was cloudy all day today, but I'm not complaining as Mother Nature has mid 50's and sunshine for the weekend for us here in south central Illinois! Woohoo! Yep, sunshine can make a cool weather day very nice. And, if no wind it's even better! I don't mind 40's and 30's and even 20's when there is sunshine and no wind. But, that wind BITES!
Fishy, Addy answered your question very well, Just plant the pot and all for the tree that you need to bring in dirt. By leaving it in the pot, the roots will grow less, which is fine, as they will be dormant, as Addy pointed out. Just don't want the roots to get more frozen above ground than they would get under ground. Typically my ground here only freezes the top few inches, so as long as you put them down the depth of the pot, they should be fine. I think landscapers in this area pile mulch on the pots of trees they overwinter to help insulate them. Then, come spring, when the plants start growing, you can dig them up and place them where you want them. In my case, I had so many plants that I replanted them for 2 years! It was quite fun, actually. Kind of like having my own landscaping place. LOL

29 when I got up, sunshine and hard frost. I keep thinking this is going to do in the plants, but for some reason most of them are still hanging on. Loving the sunshine, though!!!

And it is hugging me right now full force through my computer room window......................ohhhhhhhhhhhh, it feels so good and warm on my shoulder and it's only 32F outside right now. Waiting till it melts a bit out there before our wood cutting day begins. Only 12 more trees left and after today maybe only 8 which means only 2 more days of actual cutting and stacking brush.............doing the happy dance

Had to work again in the big freezer at work and move pallets of frozen bakery boxes around. This time of the year they send extra sweet bakery treats for us to sell. I move and unload several pallets of bakery stuff every day, and the frozen bread dough boxes are very heavy. No wonder I feel tired these days, and very little sun up here, got to take the cod liver oil so I can get some vitamin D.

At least the weather is nice, currently just barely below freezing, tonight's low expected to reach to 19 degrees. Not necessary to heat the pond as daytime tempertures are above freezing this week.

Got to built gingerbread house and train this week. Will post picture when done. :)

Oh how fun Colleen! I love to do that stuff :) We get plenty of sun here, but I could be a crispy critter and still not absorb vit D :(
Even though I've been taking 6-7,000 IU's vit D3 daily, my level is still below normal. So my rheumatologist put me on 50,000 IU's vitamin D2 weekly. I believe it's been working much better, the D2 absorbs slower and in a different area of the intestines.

Around 35 here and rising. Might reach 50 and a bit of sun if lucky. Moles are taking over our yard so must get out and rake them holes! Maybe a rest today from wood cutting as feel the wrath in my bones from yesterday's toil!

Nice gingerbread house building Colleen!

Addy those flowers are letting us see a little last hoorah before you get dumped on,lol!

Hope your little piggy doesn't run away and end up at the market FL and wee wee wee's all the way home instead. Horses here were running around loose yesterday looking for a way to get into some other horses home.
