I hope they don't post pone the elections. I don't know how many more days of he didn't do that and big bird is gonna be out of a job stuff I can take. I could understand if they did since this has affected so many people. Hope everyone says safe and don't hurt yourself during the clean up.

I unplugged our home phone because I got tired of hearing it ring all night. Not so sure I'm going to plug it back in. I love when the people come door to door and try to talk about it. I just tell them when Bill Clinton is on the ballot we can talk then.

If you are getting election calls, that's harassment, I believe. If you are on the "Do Not Call" List, they cannot call you, unless they are local in your precinct, but still think they cannot call. I am on the list, and get zero calls. Or maybe they don't think I count, since I'm in IL, and only Cook County (Chicago) counts in our state anyhow! LOL And, if you are on the DNC list, and you get any of those phone calls, you definitely should report the numbers. It can take 30 days to stop them all, but they will stop. Sadly, the election is next week!!!
Watching the news, all if about Sandy, as it should be. Seeing those infants from neonatal ICU being carried so carefully outside, in the wind and what must have been COLD to their teeny tiny bodies, OMG, I sure hope they all made the transfer safely. They were on respirators and the nurses carrying them were walking very slowly to keep them safe. Angels!!!

We made it! A tree took down lines to this area, power out for over a day. Our small generator kept us going, ran it for a few hours at a time for the refer and freezer. Pond on its own, fish look fine swimming around. I need to check the ph levels. Our internet is still down, using our mobile broad band on honies small computer right now, It just started working today cell towers must have been out to. No clue when our interenet will get back on line.

Our house is dry and warm, we are healthy, life is good. We camped in the house lol

I have not been out to check everything, what we can see looks fine. Almost 6 inches of rain more coming today.

Sandy hit land 100 miles north of md, saved our butts! Really hurt others.

Glad to hear others in the storm path are fine also

A most exciting thing, seeing Addy posts this morning! So glad you came out of this well, Addy. You know us GPF friends, we were worried, trying to wait it out until you were able to post again. I think we all need someone to know our passwords to our accounts, if anything were to happen to us, so our GPF friends would know we were ok. Whew!
It was 32 here this morning, but not a bit of frost on my grass. Not sure why, but fine with me! Skimmer pump was clogged and quit on the koi pond bog, so will have to take it apart this evening. Water toooooo cold this morning to mess with it, and not enough time to do it right. Flat lid stone fell into the pond, skidded across the bottom, so will be a bugger to get back out from in the middle, darn it. Sure hope I don't have to go IN there to get it! Pretty sure my net will reach it, just whether it will lift it and not tear the net is the question ...
Again, welcome back, Addy!

Good to see you made it through it all Addy, I think you had everyone worried here for a while. No major damage and your fine is really good news.
CE, you may want to look into getting a set of insulated waders. I got a set last spring at Basspro shops for about $100-$125. Well worth the money spent. I've had to use them twice and believe me, THEY WORK! I expected it to be cold in them and really it wasn't bad at all in the pond. Biggest issue is getting the darn things on and off! They do work great for keeping you dry and warm IF you have to get in the pond for an emergency.

Oh, man, that would be a far better idea than putting a wetsuit on, as my wetsuits are made for warm water, not 48 degree water!!! Thanks for the pointer, Larkin. May check out ebay for something like that ... but hope it doesn't have a hole in it! LOL

Glad to see ur back Addy. The eye passed very close to us, maybe a mile or two south of us. But the Shore took the worse of it. We are about 60 miles inland. The storm surge is what did the most damage. The winds and rain weren't any worse than a bad nor'easter for us which can dump just as much rain and have just as strong winds as what we got here.

I've heard that the shore areas are actually looking better than expected.

The storm surge put a big hurt on New York coastal areas too, again not so much the wind and rain.
