Still raining and kind of miserable here. But the bulk of the storm is gone and winds are dying down. Lots of trees down and lots of people without electric. I was lucky, electric went out about 5 times but came back on after a short time. No more than ten minutes for any of the outages. That was surprising as my development often loses power. I haven't ventured out yet but I can hear 3-4 chainsaws going.

Lost my cable box to a power surge, (but not TV), two LED floodlight bulbs blew, and I have circuit in a back room that won't work anymore.

Millions are without power. The New Jersey folks really got hit bad. My fire district was mostly trees down and flooding in the typical areas. Nothing too bad fortunately. FEMA rescue teams working in Atlantic City, NJ and surrounding areas.

Glad to see you made it through with minimal damage Sissy and Craig. Any snow in your areas? We seem to be getting more pictures of snow, and rerun pictures on the news over and over again. The fire in CT is the only other major news that is coming in.

You should install a whole house surge protector .I found though with mine i should have installed the better unit as to some extent this one does protect everything and found it can come in through the direct tv and telephone lines and this one does not protect them .Plus when I had this one installed the new one was not on the market yet .

I just pulled you up on map quest and see your just east of what they are showing on the weather channel as the snow effected are. It's pretty cold down here, The winds yesterday were in the 28-30 range but died down considerably over night and the temps dropped to 37, actually saw a little frost on the neighbors roof very early this morning. First of the season! Otherwise it's a really beautiful day here in the south.

Had surge protectors on everything except the kitchen LED floodlights. I suspect the multiple outages and surges damaged them. Will probably be looking at getting some new ones. I have heavy duty ones on all the computers and they held up well. I also shut them down and unplugged them after the first two outages. But we kept the tv going.

My neighbor had a whole house surge protector and he is now out entirely. The multiple surges I think damaged his. Later surges then took out his hot water heater, cable, TV and a few other misc items.

I should have had a heavier duty surge system on the entertainment cabinet. Fortunately it's only the Fios box and the tv and stereo system were spared. Verizon should replace the box for me as we lease it and it was surge protected.

I never thought about losing LED lights to a surge. No problems with regular lights normally. I'm not sure I want to go with a whole house system just for that. LED lights are expensive to replace though.

Still raining. :-(

This surge protector I am talking about goes on your circuit breaker box and protects the whole house .Right now we are at 40 degrees but wind makes it feel colder to me and this is the earliest i have ever had to turn on my heat .No frost yet but thinking we may get it this week .Well so far 18 big sheets of vinly siding and a lot of smaller pieces and alot of colors and will put them down by the road so owners can come and get them if they need too .I will have to wait until winds die down a little or weigh them down with something .Oh and 2 plastic lawn chairs that I know come from the house next door down the hill from me and put them over by there hedges .Glad to see you back mrs clem and glad everything is ok there .Geeze snow there too huh .

Has anyone been able to check the ponds? I can see Moby 1 from the deck slowly swimming around. I'm guessing the water temps dropped last night. Woodstove has the basement temp at 98*! Ordered 2 more doorway fans to move the air upstairs. Not sure when I will get them. Was supposed to get 2 boxes of pond supplies yesterday. UPS shut down and is closed today.

I had left my levels low after the last cleaning but both are overflowing so I'm guessing 8"+. Thought I saw shingles blow off the house across the road but not even a tree limb down here. Just saw a salt truck roll thru! I'm hoping they are just checking for storm damage.

well here in Nebraska it's been cold at night (30's with some upper 20's) and so far 50's and 60's during the daytime. Had a nice rain last week, but everything here has frozen and most of the leaves are down now (in part of not having significant rains over the summer/fall). I finally brought my fishkids inside for the winter and drained my pond...just have to clean it up and cover it now for the winter here. Hope everyone is staying safe with the horrible weather out east !!!

7.5million people w/o power! Death toll 29 so far. Hospitals evacuated and new born babies carried down stairways and transported to safety. Yikes what a disaster! Haven't been able to get on addy's camera feed and I see that she isn't posting so assume her power is out or at least her internet.
That crane dangling in N.Y is crazy! Never seen so much water covering the cities. Collapsed buildings, boats in front yards. Home in Maine cut in half. Talking about postponing the elections...........don't think they will but they are talking. Hope everyone here is safe!
