I hope everyone is still safe and warm in their homes.

Sorry...I forget who it was now, but do hope you and your daughter got back home safe.

Our 6am news is on in the next room so I couldn't hear all that well, but I did hear President Obama saying it was a very bad storm, worst for....didn't catch how many years. From what I did hear, it sounds very bad.

I will be thinking of you all throughout the day.

CBS reported this is the worst mega-storm in 20 years. Additionally, although (at that hour) was only a catagory 1, Hurricane Sandy as seen from space is larger than the state of Texas.

I wasn't able to get on Addy's web cam either, but it said something about needing to update and I have not been using IE lately, so likely something is not as up to date as Firefox, which is what I use most of the time.
This thread is getting lots of action, and I sure appreciate it, so we all know what is going on with all you eastern coast peeps! Someone from my area must have part ownership in a condo on Beach Ave, in Cape May, NJ, and posted on her Facebook a video taken by a police officer of the water coming over the ledge across the street from the condo, the ocean was approaching the yard!

I'm on addy's cameras right now and looks like it's raining and windy. Hard to see a lot in the darkness but I can see rain shooting down sideways. Bird feeders are swinging in the wind!

OK, JW, you help keep us posted of her yard, especially if Addy loses power ... wait, I guess if she loses power, the cameras will go off, too! But, then you can let us know that as well. :)

Ok and right now I am looking at her driveway camera and it is really pouring steady. Camera went out once and then came right back on so guess it will be going in and out. There is some kind of a light to the left of the picture that keeps flashing on like a car headlight or something coming up the drive but I see no car. Maybe it is a light or something blowing in the wind? Now camera just went off and came back on again. Really pouring steady and hard!

It's hard to understand the whole gravity of the situation, never been to New York or area, or anywhere on the eastern seaboard. I live on a bald prairie and it's hard to imagine the "scope" of the storm, but I see what they report on CNN, not looking real good people!

Seems the worst of the rain is through although we'll get some lighter rains throughout the night. The winds are still going pretty strong however. Making out ok here. Electric went out a few times. Came back on after a few minutes. Hopefully it'll hold throughout the night.

Atlantic City got hit pretty hard. Stupid mayor there told people to stay and shelter on the island. Than one of the shelters got flooded out. I understand they got moved out but still stuck on the island. Not sure what is happening now. Lost cable box about an hour ago.

The fact that Battery Park got 17 ft of water is amazing. I guess they are worried that something might happen to the Statue of Liberty because the winds are so strong. If the train tunnels get flooded I don't know how long it will take to get the trains going again. It's always pretty bizarre when NY City gets hit with severe weather because it's so congested with people and buildings. Our daughter lives in DC. They cancelled a lot of public transportation there today.

Darn wind woke me up. Wasn't sleeping that well anyway. Power flickered a couple of times but so far so good. 43* out, wind and of course more rain. Hubby stayed at work last night. He was going to come home if the power was out. They had a busy day in the ambulance including someone that refueled a generator while it was running. Not sure how bad they were burned. I'm glad I was able to shut mine down. Got the leaves cleaned off the pond netting but a lot of small stuff went thru so will be cleaning once this alll ends. Stay safe, dry & warm everyone-

Colleen, We are in southern Md. about 50 miles from the Cheasapeake bay. We are lucky that our house ison a hill and the storm winds didn't his us that hard. The homes across the street took a beating. It's getting light out and I'm not seeing any trees down or any damage. Temp down to 40* so have the woodstove going. Sissy & Addy- you guess out there?
