Just stepped outside to check the ponds. All is well. There aren't even any tree limbs down. I guess between hurricane Irene last year and the duracho this year, the trees got cleaned out. Well, at least 90% of the leaves are down now and not a one on the pond netting! I guess the winds cleaned ther rest off for me!

We're all good on Cape Cod. We more or less got hit with what we call a typical Nor'Easter. Some very minor power outages, tree damage here and there, maybe a few shingles off, as a whole. The coast took a bit of a beating, but again, more like our typical Nor'Easter... We did go out to check on the beaches around 2-3 pm yesterday, so will post a few of the pics we took. Will post them seperately tho as hubby pulled up a google maps to snap some before pics... I just want to be clear these pics just represent some various areas that take a hit, as when I posted for some facebook friends, I worried a few people. NOTHING to worry about here.

This next group of pics are of one boat... daughter had a hard time snapping this one, as the wind was really whipping and the mist/spray coming off the water made focusing the camera a bit rough... I think this owner may regret not getting his boat in...

Glad to hear you are ok up there Capewind. I'm glad we had a new roof put on last month. We had been losing shingles with each storm.

This group of pics is one of the boat ramps... if you look at the pic with the road in it... the actual boat ramp is to the far left... all the pilons on the right, are the edge/end of the parking lot... the boat yard pics are to the right of the road seen in the pic... so much for dry storage...

We took some minor damages at the house but nothing major at all... Lost a couple of half dead trees in the wooded area of the yard out front.. of course they had to come down on the split rail fence... didnt take a pic of that yet... early in the day, we lost a small section off the old barn roof (will add the pic), but it needed a new roof a long time ago (the whole struction is getting renovated), and after sight seeing, came back to a tree down in the backyard... of course landing on the fence that keeps the dog in... not a big tree, and we did expect it to go eventually... it was the lone survivor LOL. We used to have a clump of 6-8 trees there, and each year, a Nor'easter would take one... now the last is gone:-(

Capewind and Mrsclem, glad to see your both ok. CW, that's some good/bad pics. We are not getting a lot of detail down here and have been wondering through the night how everyone faired. I just checked Addy's video cam and it's still not working so presuming she is without power. Hopeing evryone made it through in good shape, still sending thoughts and prayers to those of you in the storm area.

Ditto to Larkin. We are getting the edge of the storm with wind, but nothing going to happen here, just worrying about my GPF friends on the east coast. What horrific devastation there. So glad those of you have posted and are safe, worrying now until we hear from Addy and Sissy, and any others in the areas of that storm. Prayers!!!!!

Larkin, I am so frustrated with the news reporting, not just this storm. We are getting bits and pieces of the property damages, but nothing on the human interest side of things. I am relying on friends on facebook to check in and let us know how they, and their areas are doing. It is awful what happend in say Atlantic City, Manhattan, etc, but the damages are wide spread geographically... Seeing next to nothing on the local news about our own area. Granted, the weather forcasters rarely give us any real notice of what to expect, as they usually do not even KNOW... We are stuck out on our own little plantet on Cape Cod. I understand our unique geography sticking out into the Atlantic causes some challenges for them, and that is why folks in our immediate area are always like, ok, we MAY have another Nor'easter coming... just means some rain and wind... we'll deal with whatever is thrown our way. Most of our New Jersey friends/clients have checked in, but hearing nothing fron anyone in CT or RI...

Wow, just saw a pic on the news from Fair Lawn, NJ, and a large tree was uprooted. The strange thing was that the grass looked like a carpet that was pulled up with the tree! I've never seen anything like that before. I'm shocked at the devastation I'm seeing ... and that places people evacuated to were flooded. Medical center had to be evacuated, emergency generators failed. Don't they check for that? Can't imagine lying in a hospital bed, getting taken out into the storm to move to another hospital. Yikes!

A lot of times the generators are in the basement of the hospital, which as most of us knows is the first place that floods. I heard on the radio that they had to move everyone because the water was coming in faster than what they could pump it out. Glad to see everyone on the site has escaped most of the damage.

Generators in a hospital failing??? WTH... that is totally unacceptable! OMG, I really hope no one's health was endangered due to that screw up! I'm just a "basic home owner" and we have TWO generators... we only run one... the older one we pulled out of our oold motor home, and in an emergency can run the basics, but not worth running otherwise... How can a hospital NOT have back up for the back up???

I can understand basements flood, etc, but if this happend at a place AT sea level, that was sheer stupidity on the design... I dont mean to sound so harsh on that subject, but I live AT sea level.
