I’ll keep that in mind if it goes out again, but already set up for the submersible, and I’m tired of hauling water from the pond to flush toilets! We’ll be going buy a new pump today, it’s also the final court date on the estate, after this it’s all just a matter of paperwork! My step brother got a flat on his way to court, so I’m sitting at a gas station just down the road after dropping him off. I’m rocking my pj sweats, threw on a top and boots. So not stylish right now!

Winter Storm Warning begins at 9pm tonight until 9pm tomorrow night.
Around 8" expected. Depending on how bad it is overnight into the morning, schools may actually have their first snow day. I'm just glad I finally had a day off from shoveling today, but tomorrow will be a pain in the butt. Then the weekend comes and NASCAR returns to my TV!

It’s actually tolerable out today, good cause we are putting in the new pump. According to my cats, it’s spring, the boys are all chasing the girls, I do believe it’s time for girls to get fixed pronto! Or little feline chasity belts. If I can’t find homes for these two brats, I’ll have to just get them fixed.

Yep, Sissy! My well pump sits on top of the concrete lid of the well, but my wells are 3' in diameter, and are considered shallow wells. This well is only about 25' deep and only use it for the horse trough and watering flowers in that area. When I moved into my house, the well housing was ON TOP of the concrete lid, which did nothing to keep the pump from freezing. My son rebuilt it correctly, on the outside of the lid, with posts buried into the ground. I do have a heat lamp with a thermostat plug in so it goes on only when lower than freezing. It works great!

$700 for a pump, ended up with a bad pump, plan to exchange it in the morning, but got called out on a run, so might be home by daylight if we can get loaded and unloaded promptly.
I’ve decided we are having a bad case of Monday’s, where every day this week is a Monday.

This is my proof that spring is absolutely in the air here in south central Illinois! We have a resident pair of bald eagles that have a nest about 5 miles from my house. I drive by it on my way to work, but never noticed it until last year. I took pics of the eagles and the eaglet (I never saw more than one, but a professional photographer was also watching the nest, and he said there were two, and had proof!), throughout the summer, all the way until the juvenile began to fly! The pair has been around all winter off and on, but I've been seeing them more and more often lately.
So, the first picture is one of the eagles that I spotted about 1/2 mile from the nest area this morning on my way to work. I watched it swoop down toward the ground, but I was far enough away I'm not sure if it picked up its meal then, or if it already had the squirrel. Then it flew through the wood on the other wise of the road from the nest area, to the trees near the nest. The other eagle was already perched near the nest, and was quite upset the eagle with the meal wasn't sharing! Making lots of noise!

The second picture was the eagle without food. LOL He or she looks quite put out!

Tonight, the female was on the nest! Woohoo!

The last photo shows this evening, the male eagle is the large spot on the left side (then there is a nest to the right of him) and the female was sitting on the huge eagle nest on the right.

Lots of dead trees are necessary for a good nesting area, as the eagles need open branches to land on in the summer when the leaves are filling out this empty spaces.
Enjoy!

How neat! I have only seen one eagle since we have lived here, it was doing a fly over. We mainly have hawks and a few falcons.

Winter storm wasn't so bad. 4" give or take, the system is moving out. Originally, the storm warning was supposed to go until 9pm tonight, and it's ending at 9am instead. Guess it's about time to clean off the driveway again.
