And if we're gonna have 8, we might as well have 12, right?!

Speak for yourself!
I'll take 0", thank you very much! :)

To be honest, I would love a huge winter storm, just to watch the story unfold. Maybe not this year though. I'm pretty exhausted with shoveling at this point.

JW let us know when those crows come back and get even with you by pooping on everything around your house .

It’s the only size that’ll git down the casing. 12gpm, and still water pressure is lower than I’d like for a good shower. It’s worked for over 10 years here, it’s what most wells are around here. A 4” casing going down to the aquifer, send the pump and tubing down, it ties into plumbing about 2’ under ground, which goes to the well house, where it gets filtered then up to us.

Ha Ha the r - - n has finally stopped! Supposed to have a nice weekend and will prolly see Mr Sun, yay!
On my walk I saw two dead crows laying side by side w/their wings full flared out. Then I get close right over them and I see movement! Then I said oh you guys are doing the hootchy cootchy dance, pardon me for interrupting and they jumped up and flew away. Must be that Spring is on the way :woot:
OMG, I'm laughing and Laughing and LAUGHING on that one, JW! I can just see you talking to those birdies!
Addy, your ice is beautiful, but I hope no power outages in the area! I love pretty ice storms, especially the ones that leave as quick as they came!
Good luck, JamieB. Never a good time to have a water pump go out, and even worse in the winter.

Most use jet pumps for wells like that
Maybe I just don’t know enough about wells, or pumps for that matter, but none of the jet pumps I looked st online looked like they’d fit down the hole. And I’m not about to dig the hole wider. When it went out last time, Dad ( being from NM, where wells are much much deeper) called in a crew that does wells around here to pull it and fix it. This is the pump they bought, and the guy I talked to about the well who does them around here when trying to find out if he can rebuild the old one, it’s the kind of pump he deals with. Maybe it’s a local thing, I’ve no clue until I learn more.

I pulled up some info, with a well 30ish ft deep, the deep well is best unless we want to change the plumbing. We do need to find out what that motors gpm is, we need 15. They recommend 1 gpm per water outlet/ using appliance. So 1 pump in the yard, one house outlet on east and west sides of house, washer, kitchen sink, and three bathrooms. Plus one pump thing down at the barn.

Yep I couldn't believe I was standing right over them and they didn't even see or hear anything till I said that to them @CountryEscape . I really thought they were dead and they were right on the grass next to the road where anything could have just reached down and grabbed them up. Freaked me out when they both jumped up and flew away! So weird that they just do that right there out in the open and not hidden away somewhere safer. I mean like really, get a room, lol!

They recommend 1 gpm per water outlet/ using appliance.
We run our house, 6 outlets, and three out door outlets, on 3.5 (approx) gallons per hour. We have no issues with water pressure in the house, even with the pond fill going on.
Our neighbors just had their well pump replaced, 150 ft, we have no clue how deep ours is.

I or hubby have never heard of needing 1 gph per outlet pump size.

jet pumps do not go down the hole they mount outside the hole in a pump house to protect them .The pipe from the well hooks up to them and then the hose from the house connects to the outlet .You can go on youtube and look them up .I knew very little about pumps ,but remember my dad and helping him with his jet pump at our house in NJ .We had a large well house made out of concrete that also served as our root cellar to store veggies over the winter .Mine had to be 1 1/2 hp because of depth of the well and distance from the well to the house and also because i have a hydrant .A jet pump is cheaper and easier to install and maintain .I have a jet pump at the other house since it is near Bedford Lake and the well is only 80 feet deep .It was so much easier to install a new one .Plus built a new insulated well house .I think CE has a well house if I remember correctly

An expansion tank is useful also when you install a jet pump .It helps the pump work better by not shocking it when it comes on
