Lol JW I wish, cooled down again here but felt really warm this afternoon in the low 30s. Had snow flurries an hr ago, nice thick flakes, but done. Was supposed to get 2-5", but it missed us. Really happy for that.

Don't know anything about the comet Colleen but those are some cool pics!

It is definitely still feeling like winter here! Temps below the usual highs which fits since last year at this time we were way above. Of course last year we had a lot of plants and trees bloom early only to be hurt by colder freezing temps in April. I'll suffer through it now to get warmer weather next month and have it stay.

Yesterday I went to check out a local waterfall that's part of the Niagra Escarpment and see how it looked. It was flowing awesome!

Yesterday was sunny and beautiful and today is cloudy with snow.

It has stopped now but I am ready for spring.

I remember those falls, too, Herz. I sure can understand why you go there to take pics. Gorgeous ice formations! And, I also noticed more open water on your pond. Slowly but surely ..... I agree, last year this time we had experienced some unusually warm weather, and everything was growing well by now, but I also had string algae growing like crazy. This year, no string algae ... yet anyhow. If it waits until spring is really here to warm up, that's fine with me, but this swinging of temps is crazy.

Just looked on weather.com, and they are predicting 5-8" tomorrow, and 3-5" tomorrow night! Yikes, that adds up to 8-13" possible snowfall. I cannot believe it!!! We have not gotten more than 4-6" all winter, now end of March and going to get hit with a big storm. Supposed to start out as rain all night until about 6 a.m., so can you imagine the snowfall if it started out as snow at 1 a.m.??? I'm sooo ready for spring and warmer weather. At this point, looks like 50's again by next weekend. Woohoo!!! Snow won't last very long, thank goodness.

So far, maybe 1/2" on the ground, but someone around here said going to get heavy around 2 this afternoon. I'm just still hoping it all misses me and the area. Most of what has fallen so far is melted, as the ground is much warmer. Pond has no ice, hasn't had any for close to a month, except a thin sheet a couple of mornings. I like it that way, too!

It has been snowing here since 3 a.m. It changed to all rain, then sleet, then rain, then snow, then thunder and LIGHTENING and still snow! Very weird weather. The snow is so wet and heavy, there is only 2-3" on my deck. I think if this snow had been dry, it would have been 10" by now, but it's melting as it hits or something, very strange. I'm just hoping it continues like it has been, but supposed to snow until early morning hours. Glad I have a 4WD truck! Snow plows are out on township roads. Going to need to hit them again after midnight, but glad they are trying to keep them cleared as much as possible. Someone said Interstate 57 was closed at Effingham, but don't see that on the DOT or IL State Police websites, so must have been an accident. There are 2 major interstates that cross in Effingham - 70 that runs E and W across the US, and 57 that runs N and S across the US. So, Effingham is known as the "Crossroads of the US". Anyhow, they have been working on widening to 3 lanes where the 2 interstates cross, and that construction has been going on for 4 years now, and I think they are predicting it to take another 3. I suspect someone got sideways and had an accident in the construction areas, and that's why it's closed. Temps are hovering right around 32-35 degrees all day, up to 38 this morning when it changed to rain, then dropped back to 34 within about 30 minutes. As I said, VERY strange weather.
