Had a great time at EAA Airventure this past Saturday. Got to see a lot of awesome aircraft.
This is the Redbull plane that landed on the Dubai helipad earlier this year. If you havent seen it, it's a viral video on youtube. I didn't realize while I was there that you could sit in it to get your photo taken. I probably would've done that had I realized.
This is a newly restored P-51 once owned by Jimmy Stewart.
Another P-51 with a paint scheme dedicated to the Tuskegee Airmen. That's me in the photo. You might not be able to tell, but I'm wearing a shirt with that exact plane on it.
The newly restored C-121A Constellation. It's first flight after restoration was just over a month ago!
MiG-17
PT-17 Stearman
F/A-18
F-35
A restored P-47 Thunderbolt razorback called "Bonnie". The only one of its kind that's airworthy.
B-25
B-25 starting up as it was about to leave Airventure Saturday evening.
F-22 during the start of the night air show.
MiG-29 & MiG-17
DHC-1 Chipmunk
Unfortunately, there were two separate incidents that day that killed four people. A T-6 took off and crashed into Lake Winnebago just a few minutes later. Both people on board were killed. The pilot was the daughter of a former NFL player. Later in the day, two ultralight rotorcraft collided mid-air and crashed. Two were killed and two others injured. This happened near the ultralight runway that I was at just 50 minutes earlier. I remember seeing one of the airport's firetrucks on the taxiway heading in that direction, but didn't think anything of it at the time. The airshow that was scheduled almost two hours after that crash was delayed for a short while but ultimately went on.
