Just to be clear I mean any plant that remains green through all seasons. Unfortunately fir trees do not do well here. Highly susceptible to fatal mite disease. Any area of a fir type tree or plant damaged by red mites never recovers even if some of the growth survives. Bummer.

Colorado Spruce have that problem here Lou and I have one but it's young and I keep it sprayed off w/ a garden hose. Not that I've ever seen any mites yet but I'm sure I will. If they get too ugly you have to chop them down.

37f here right now. Was a rather chilly walk earlier today.

I was told by a tree nursery owner to use plain liquid dish soap mixed with water to spray on the infected areas to kill the mites. Goggle it to find ratios. Sad such beautiful trues and ground covers succumb to those little devils.

Well, the snow is here. They predicted 1".
They do their best to predict future weather, and sometimes people forget that and complain when they get it wrong. Admittedly they're usually in the ballpark of whats going to happen. In this case they were a bit off with snow totals. We're at 2.5" and its still snowing. Might hit 3". Looks like I'll be shoveling after all.

The first snow is always so pretty. Enjoy it in it's youth JB cuz when it gets old it won't be so appealing anymore.

Stay warm and safe JB.

I've had the pleasure of being in your lovely state during summer and snow season. When in Milwaukee I always stayed downtown in a grand older hotel. Remember being in La Crosse during an especially cold deep snow day. I must say early summer in Wisconsin was such a delight.
