We Canadians tend to translate our temperatures to Farenheit to avoid confusing our American neighbours. (Notice the correct spelling?) However, in doing so it seems we have confused some of our British ponderers. Please accept our humble appologies! :shame:
John
Sorry John, I don't understand 'notice the correct spelling', it does have an 'h'

Except 2x4s and anything else used in construction! Our houses still have 8' ceilings, wall studs are still 2x4s or 2x6s, spaced 16" on centre, to accommodate the standard 4' wide drywall panels. Some things are just TOO complicated in metric!

We are exactly the same with distance/length. I guess with temp that 0' is freezing and 100' is boiling piont just works in my head better than F, like I said there is no right or wrong......I just am not going to know what temperatures anyone is experiencing for a while!

Oh, and gallons per hour for pumps, gallons for pond volumes (but liters for gas), feet for water depth.

A beer is still 341mL, however, unless we're talkin' King Cans.

It's chilly out.
-18c/0f but supposed to get up above freezing next week.
The pond temperature bottom has flatlined at 3.8c/39f
The 2 foot depth temperature is about the same.
I can walk on the ice around the edge of the pond now.

I heard about your wet snowfall on the radio Maria. Said they couldn't use a snow blower on it cuz too wet and heavy. Back breaking digging was the only way.

Sunny here and the first sign of ice on the pond today. Going to warm up and rain maybe by Sunday or Monday. Gosh I really was hoping for some snow in the transition

Took my hubby two hours to get home from work when it normally takes about 45 minutes. I got home from work without too much trouble but when I got home I couldn't get in the driveway. We fired the plow guy and never hired anyone else for this season so the snow was piled up. Then to top it off the neighbors tree had a huge limb fall partly in our drive. There is a parking ban in the city so couldn't leave the car in the street, at least for very long :grumpy: poor hubby had to hand shovel and with the help of the neighbor they were able to move the tree limb so we could get in the drive. And just in time I may add as the city plow came down the street seconds after we got the cars in our drive.

That heavy wet snow is the worst. It brings down power lines and trees.
Do you have a generator Maria?

Shoveling that stuff is hard on the body as well.

Yes, The wet snow is scary when it comes to trees. That was one of the first things I noticed during my drive home from work. All the branches on trees and bushes were drooping from the weight of the snow. I could barely push the snow when I tried to clean off the steps to my front door. Poor husband did most of the shoveling himself.

We do not have a generator but have talked about it in the past and infact we were talking about it again last night! Not exactly sure what would be the best type to get as far as gas or propane powered.
