Yes, The wet snow is scary when it comes to trees. That was one of the first things I noticed during my drive home from work. All the branches on trees and bushes were drooping from the weight of the snow. I could barely push the snow when I tried to clean off the steps to my front door. Poor husband did most of the shoveling himself.

We do not have a generator but have talked about it in the past and infact we were talking about it again last night! Not exactly sure what would be the best type to get as far as gas or propane powered.
We have always kept a back up generator ready for the off for every eventuality ready for a power out then both sat ready for the off in our Kitchen
They do what they call suitcase generators ours is a 700 watt Clarke generator with enough power for both the pond and the house.
As we are heated by gas and cook by it as well, all we need the other plug for is the house lighting TV etc
It's very similar to this model of generator :-

Better in there than in the house peeing! Good idea and all you have to do is renew the chips or wash them down w/ a hose.

Hey! :woot: Rio comes back from the greenhouse floor smelling like a Hamster cause of the nice smelly red cedar wood chips. :beaver: Her poo is so tiny that sometimes it is hard to find!
I like to put fresh wood chips every winter on the floor and cover the greenhouse floor with lots cause Cedar helps keep bugs and critters away, but it also keeps the greenhouse way warmer. The floor is covered good with quarter foot of cedar wood chips so that the frozen cold ground does not chill the greenhouse. It's only half as cold this morning as it was last night! Yesterday was like down to -25C. Live Right Now this morning it is about -15C {5 F} so I unplugged the big pond heater now that it is much warmer!

Cabana club makes me think of that Barry Manilow song...
Nice for you, addy!

Colleen, I see that Medicine Hat hit some record lows this week. Hopefully that will end soon.
With all the snow we've had, I haven't heard once from the neighbours kid about clearing our driveway.......:cautious:

Saying 18f on my temp thing here now at 9:15am. Sun still blazing! Maybe that isn't the sun, maybe just a giant ice cube w/moon glow hitting on it from beyond

With our first week of freezing temperatures we sadly said goodbye to earlier beautiful annual flowers and cutting back of some perninals. :( By far our yard is dominated by lovely evergreen plants, a few evergreen trees and shedding trees that retain their beauty when bare. :)

I am quite fond of evergreens and could do a whole yard of them alone. Quite easy to care for if one likes to travel or cut down on lots of yard work. Nice to have the flowering plants for some color and of course for the bees. I have lots of Sedums for them to enjoy.

So cold now here and a good time to enjoy the evergreens.
