this is our wettest summer in two years, we are still behind in rain, but a lot better than it has been. We were just reading about 30% of the US being declared a drought.

We've been having this thunder and lightning all day off and on w/rain. Hope it keeps it up when it gets dark as it's much more exciting then! Went out for my walk about 1pm cuz looked like the sun was going to come out and about halfway into it the rain started again w/ the thunder and lightening again. Ducked into a friends house right there and she gave me a ride home after we enjoyed the storm sounds for awhile.

John you must be if south of me near Silver Lk area or Mukilteo or anywhere horizontally near those. Course you could be north of me up around Mt Vernon or Burlington.

Still do not have any rain since my last post. Always around us but seems to be skipping our area. Very warm today mid 90s.

well pres.Obama coming to Roanoke tonight and supposed to rain on his parade
Oh poor little man........................Maybe he'll get a bad case of algae and just slither away on his belly down into the political sewer never to be heard from again. Now that wasn't very nice of me to say that about him was it?.............................too bad, we still have freedom of speech so far anyways

I hear ya, ICSD, same here. Yesterday, Effingham, where I work, got a downpour, water standing in the ditches, my house just 12 miles west, NOTHING. In fact, I drove out of the rain heading home. Ho hum ... guess I need to look at the bright side - I've not mowed for 4 weeks now! That's a record for me for sure! Sometimes I would go 2 weeks or 2.5 weeks in August without mowing, but NEVER in late June and early July did I miss a week for mowing.
I heard about states being declared a drought, that way farmers can sign up for more government money, cause they sure aren't going to make any money on the corn this year. I'm so glad I'm no longer married to my former husband. He's farming full time this year, and it's an awful year to start out. He's farming with his dad, so his dad will pick up the slack on bills, but it's awful. Bad thing is that he will stress out about it and take it out on whoever is around. Glad I'm NOT around. Worry about his girlfriend, and hoping my son is staying away, too. :)

Cloudy here, but no rain so far. I'm going to head outside, water the wildflower strip so I can weed out all the grass, then work on my sidewalk expansion, try to get it finished this weekend. THAT should get the rain going, planning outside things, right? :)

weed the wildflowers of grass? wow I don't touch mine. They grow thick enough to keep any grass from growing. I am proud of you! keeping them nice

Addy, I wouldn't do it, but I figure if I can keep most of the grass out this year, then they will keep reseeding and getting thicker and I won't ever have to do it again. That's my plan anyhow, not sure they will take care of their part!
Well, it's raining, finally! Not sure how long it will last, getting brighter already to the west, but I'll take it. Enough to get the road and sidewalk all the way wet this time. Brought me in from working on the pond and sidewalk ... DARN! ... NOT. :)

Got it ce, my wildflower fields are on their own. I seeded pretty heavy, they come back by themselves now. This year we finally have some rain, still 6 inches behind.

Woohoo, ICSD, glad you got a little, too! I checked rain gauge, only .2", but something is sure better than nothing! We could use that type of rain to stay with us for about 3 days. I know what's going to happen, sooner or later the rains are going to come and not quit! That's how it usually goes. Ho hum ...
