I had no power for only 2 hours so not so bad and gosh not sure about all these weird storms .Gotta love it when the mailbox gives up ,wonder what the mail person thought when they drove up to that one .Better be the last time pulling that sucker up and it is down 405 feet in the ground we measure it this time and the pump is 4 feet long .

Geez wonder if that really happened from the heat or somebody just rigged it up to look like that? Seems very possible doesn't it or am I just being gullible?

Oh so your phones were down and not your electricity. Well that's good you did not lose power cuz at least you have your AC. We were all worried that you got heat stroke or something and might be in the hospital getting an IV of tequila or rum and cokes, lol!
Haha, well said, JW!!!

Weather.com says my area was 103 today, but at 2 this afternoon, my car said 106, and so did the radio station and 2 banks! Supposed to get up to 107 tomorrow, so I guess that means 111 here at my house. UGH! Glad I have house to clean and laundry to do ... did I just say that???? But, good news coming, Sunday there is a 40% chance of rain, and since my daughter in UT said it was raining there yesterday (there are fires about 10 miles from her home) and today another friend in CO said it's raining there, I figure they have it right on scheduled to get to central IL by Sunday! Come on rain! We could use inches, not tenths, this time! Never seen such sad looking corn, after such an early great start! Glad I bought my hay on first cutting, when it seemed like it was going to be a record year for hay ... maybe record lack of hay now!

Woke up this morning to thunder and thought we might actually get some rain but as always it missed us by a few miles..103 for a high today. Can't wait for next week when temps are supposed to cool off finally.

Right now, just before 9 a.m., my outdoor temp says it's 101F, and the humidity has gone "down" to 65%. Pond temp is down to 85F, saw it at 91F last night! I'm supposed to go to a 50th birthday party this evening, and the daughter is having a "Scavenger Hunt" at 5 .... pretty sure I'm going to opt out of that! Glad to have house to clean and laundry to do. Only can take being outside for 15 minutes or so at a time. I can't imagine it's only going to get up to 107 here ... bet my thermometer shows much higher, but maybe out on the prairie like I am, it gets hotter, not sure. Stay cool everyone!

Looks like I spoke too soon, We are actually getting light showers now. I doubt it will be much but at least I won't have to water the vegetables today and hopefully it will hold temps back a little. I think this is the first time we have even got a sprinkle since the end of May.

For the first time this year I think we finally got rain when we could use it and it didn't interfere with any of the construction. It's a pleasant 78 degrees right now and the pond is slick as glass. We had been over 3 weeks without a drop of rain and now have had rain the last three days. Nothing big, nothing bad, just good grass watering, plant loving cool down rain. more in the forecast today. I think we may take a break today from the construction and go do a little shopping and if all goes well we MIGHT bring home our new Labrador. Suzanne found a 8 month old on craigslist that is a male, registered, all shots up to date, Chocolate, and seems to be a perfect candidate. Plus he is meeting us only a few miles from the Koi farm so may take a trip by there as well and spend a little time together.

Well here they say next week is supposed to be in the higher 80's and hope they are right .Gosh you nuts mowing the lawn ,trying to get heat stroke or something .My outside thing says 95 so can't tell which maybe right .Just wish they were both wrong .But hope next week they are right .I trimmed and then weeded and that was enough ,I did get about half of it done in the last 3 days ,but know my limits .Hot is hot but this is hotter .

I have not mowed for over 3 weeks. I'd like to mow AFTER it rains, so not so much crap blowing around and sticking to me when I'm covered in sweat. I have a rider, and can't imagine mowing in this heat. Walking around, watering, is enough to make me almost sick, like I can't breath, and I have never smoked either! I can't imagine a smoker walking around outside today for any reason. :-(
