Think it must have been in the 80's here today as it's 76 right now and cooling off! Walked early this morning, well early for me anyways. Listening to an audio book while I walk that somebody recommended called "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson:
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail is a 1998 book by travel writer Bill Bryson, describing his attempt to walk the Appalachian Trail with his friend "Stephen Katz". The book is written in a humorous style, interspersed with more serious discussions of matters relating to the trail's history, and the surrounding sociology, ecology, trees, plants, animals and people.

I am loving listening to the book. Got if from the library and transferred it to my ipod.

Pulled up dead palm and pruned off brown junk on plants. Planted some radishes. Trimmed some tree limbs that hit me in the head every time I mow. Don't ya just love it when ya come in from mowing w/ tree needles all inside your clothes :D
Hubby is coming along nicely w/ my windmill he is making for me. He's got the blades on and on the spinning things and it actually spins in the wind. He still needs to make the tall base for it tho and etch the metal and paint it.

It was supposed to be my day off, but got called into work to deal with lots of pellets of frozen bakery stuff. I get tomorrow off instead, so I need to get cracking on the front yard tomorrow for sure!! So much to do, so little time, and the big moon is rising, calling to me, it want's me to go outside and make a fire and dance around the pond under the bright moonlight!!
But I think I may just call it a night cause I am tired, will play under the full moon tomorrow night for sure!!

Nice and warm tonight, temperture in the mid 50's, and I think I will plant lots tomorrow cause I think the danger of frost is gone.....

Colleen are your smaller rocks around your stepping stones mortared in or are they just placed directly on the dirt? I like the look.

ThanKs! The round concrete stepping stones were just placed there in the heavy clay soil like 20 years ago and they do not move much. Last year instead of using the usual fresh bags wood chips like it did in past yesrs, I started to gather round flat rocks from river. I gathered a few rocks every day while walking the big puppies and dug them into the hard packed pathway, one by one, the REAL old fashion way... My mother loves it and says it reminds her of the old farm when she was a young girl...

The rocks will not move much if you have lots of clay soil, and then I added Fine gravel to fill in the gaps. I can also sweep the walk clean and the rocks just stay firmly in place. If you have very sandy soil, then the rocks will move and sink out of sight after a few years. None of my rocks are mortared in place, but if you have a soft sandy pathway, you might have to use mortar then...

I'm back .... stupid ISP is giving me trouble. Evidently, the radio receiver on my roof, the one they had to remove, then replace on the edge after new gable trim on new roof, didn't get positioned perfectly. Yes, I have connection, but very poor, and I didn't realize that was the reason that I got better connection in the a.m. (when not as much "competition" from other users) and poor in the evening. So, I've not been on here much, or not been able to post anything if I was! Grrr ....
It dropped in temps from 80's last weekend to high of only 54 yesterday! Got down to maybe 45 last night, and now a slow warming trend, back to 80's by next week. I'm praying for 70 tomorrow and NO RAIN (rained alll day yesterday) today or tomorrow, as I have company coming tomorrow evening for the weekend. Our cousin's daughter is getting married on Sat. I LOVE having company!!! We will drink wine and sit on the deck tomorrow, if no rain, so crossing fingers ..... Only predicted to be about low 60's tomorrow though ... so will need jacket by evening. Ho hum ....

Glad you are back CE! Hope the weather holds out for you and then you can have a nice time on the deck with the company! I love having company too, now that things are coming nice by the pond. Last night was beautiful, must have been like 60 degrees all night long, hubby and I had a few drinks by the pond, he had a beer and I was drinking vodka Ceasers, for some reason I felt like a ceaser and had lots of celery in them too. I think the celery absorbs the alcohol and that is why it tastes so good in the ceaser drink.... Listen to me, I sound like a alcoholic!
I hardly drink all winter, then comes the hot weather and lots of yard work, and then I am thirsty by the pond!! he he he, It was so nice to sit with the hubby by the pond in the new Gazebo. Poor Hubby works out of town all week and never got to see the new Gazebo and he loves it much better than the hanging unbrella with the screen that I had last year.
Who knows how long our health will hold out, so when the weather is nice, it is good to celebrate life after working so hard, and relax by pond with the ones that you love.....
