Wow, so sorry to hear about that devastation, JW. Stay safe up on your hill, hope you have all your necessities and don't have to go anywhere. Will be praying for those who lost lives, and those still in danger.

I shall be staying away from that river area. Right now the river is still building a lake behind the massive mudslide. The river has lowered on our side to 3ft and that is really shallow. The water keeps building up behind that damn that the slide made and they know it has to give at some point. If it just starts to slowly seep out that is good but if it busts loose w/ a vengeance everyone who lives down close to the river on our hwy 530 will be in extreme danger as well as our bridges. In order to get to town we have to go down to the river and cross the bridge. Hopefully this will come to an end soon.
Sunny and dry today and tomorrow so that helps in the continuing search for survivors near that mudslide. The trouble is is that the mud is too deep to get near the search area. Please keep these people that are missing and the searchers in your prayers and that this river doesn't bust loose all at once.

Here are some more pics of the landslide. There are still 18 people missing and one more body was found today so a total of 4 dead so far. They can't get in there to rescue anyone yet as the mud is like quicksand. They heard cries for help last night but could not get to them. If any are still alive I hope they can hold on. They are talking about blasting a hole through the dammed up debris holding the river back to get it flowing again.

That is horrible jw! Those poor people, I hope they find the missing alive.

We are down to 18, snow coming, right now sounds like it might be a snow event north of us, new york etc. FEET of snow, cold hitting a low off the coast. A bad raging northeaster. Winds snows etc.

In comparison the cherry blossoms were peaked on 3/24 last year.

Addy that is going to really suck, a ton more snow, just what you needed for spring! Weather here too has taken a turn for for the worse, looks like this week will be cold again too here, and we had a little more snow last night. I remember planting panzies during March here and it is sure not going to happen this year, ground is still frozen solid for the most part.
Plugged the pond heater back in this morning, ice covering more than 75% of the ponds again, cause I thought it was going to warm up and unplugged the heater yesterday morning....

Currently they are saying it will just brush us, we will get snow but not much. But that can change with a slight wind change, pressure change etc.
Up north they are going to be hammered.

35° today, 28° tomorrow with up to an inch of snow.

Saw some light at the tunnel including a possible 60° day on Sunday... cannot wait!

Sun beautiful sun again! Happy I am
We are safe up on our hill and the river is slowly leaking out around the landslide so they are thinking it won't bust all at once now. They are now looking for 108 people possibly lost in that mud. The town only has 200 or so people residing there but they say there could have been cars on the hwy and visitors to the homes. Here is a video of a dog they found in the rubble:
