JB, when I first built the ponds, I tried to hide everything on the outside of the ponds. Now I realize that if the water lines are left IN the ponds, they get covered with algae, and are pretty much hidden naturally. I'm going to put my stream water line on the edge of the stream, or maybe down the center. Plants completely cover the stream during the summer anyhow. If I don't want to see it in the winter, I'll lay it on the outer edge. Doesn't really matter where it goes, it won't show much since it's black. Sump pump hose is really cheap, too! Funny, but if you buy anything that says "pond" or "koi pond" on it, the price is double. Find similar or at times the exact same product sold for plumbing, and it's half the cost. Someone on here directed me to the sump pump hosing (Sissy, I think, as she uses it, too) and I've used it ever since. Sooooo easy to work with, even in the winter.
Also, my submersible pumps are attached to a rope so I can pull them out to clean off any algae from the cage. With the sump pump hose, it's very flexible, easy to pull pump. In my sistersr AZ pond, she had a submersible pump sitting on the bottom of her pond, hard plumbed to PVC pipe. How crazy is that? Asked how she cleaned it, and her response was, "I just swish my foot over it when I go in there to clean." I just shook my head and walked away. She was VERY lucky, never had an issue with it clogging up in the 6 years she lived there.
