CE, I have some of that sump pump hose you are talking about. I used it this past fall when I was doing a water change right before winter set it. When I was an electrician, we would run miles of PVC pipe for electrical runs. We had a 3ft, 5ft, and 10ft long hot box that we would use to heat up the pipe to bend it. It takes time to get the hang of it, but I got real good at turning the pipe just slow enough to heat it, but not burn it. The gas from the smoke that the burning PVC puts off will make you violently sick. But when I did my pond tubing, I just used my gas grill to heat the section that I wanted to bend, got the pipe limp like a noodle and then formed the pipe the way I needed it to bend. You want to have a wet rag close by to cool down the pipe once you have it just right. Also helps to have rough hands or leather gloves to handle it. My pipe also runs outside of the pond so when I'm working around the pond, I don't have to worry about kneeling or stepping on pipe. It won't break or split like the other hose.
I'm so ready for summer to get here. We can get our new camper and camp even more this year. We decided that as much as we used ours last year, a pop up camper maybe wasn't for us. It takes about an hour to get fully set up at the camp ground, and most of the time, I'm setting up alone. We are going to sell our camper and get a Hybrid camper. It still has the pull out beds, but no roof to raise up and all that stuff. Just back into the camp site, level the camper and set the jacks. Pull out 2 beds and you are ready.
