Ah Sissy, we are just like you. We have just a few Christmas mantel decorations. A beautiful Waterford Crystal star like globe and a naivity scene snow globe We keep a lovely 6" ceramic statue of Mary & Joseph holding the Christ child in place year round. There's also a nice cedar & red berries wreath on the exterior of the front door.

I just like to have a nice fresh tree for Christmas, hubby works so hard in Brooks all week, and I want him to just relax and enjoy Christmas. My nefew comes by almost every weekend, I swear I must have gave birth to him, so he likes to come and and play with the puppies, Poppy and Bear love him more than me I swear! I feel like I am just the old maid that clean's and feed puppies but when hubby and nefew come over they jump for joy when they see them!

No more days off till Christmas!! Have to work tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening... Yesterday I just worked half a day and then had take my mom to the mall to shop, I hid a very tiny bottle of spiced rum and some Baileys into my small purse and put some in our coffee while we walked around the mall for hours last night. It was so nice to get out with my mom, but then at 9pm the mall closed and as I drove her home to her front door, with the nice Christmas music playing, she did not want to go home!! So then I said Wallmart is open to 11pm and off we went to Walmart for more walking and shopping! Oh what fun to spend time with my sweet old Mom!

even though moms and dads can be a pain sometimes it is nice to have them .I wished for a long time I had mine .My mom and I would talk on the phone everyday after I got home from work the phone would ring and then one day it just stopped so hearing that phone ring always reminds me how much I miss her and dad

Snow still trying to hang on but it is a losing battle. The rain is winning now and turning everything into a dirty mess on the roads outta our hood. Once we get off our hill it's all pretty cleared off. 34F right now but wondering if it will get just a bit colder tonight we might get more snow.................just wondering tho

Had freezing mist overnight. Made for slow going to work this am. Off and on the same all day. Never got above freezing.
Winter storm watch for tomorrow night. :( At least I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want to.)

Pond is all open but not for long. Predicted single digit highs for Monday and low of -1. Yuk!

Plan to do my cookie baking this weekend.

It was 63 when I left work this afternoon. Light rain on way home, then thundering while I was in the barn getting hay for the horses. Got back inside just before it rained hard, been raining ever since. I guess this is the beginning of what they are saying is going to now be 3-4" of rain before it's done! As long as the temps stay in the 40's or above, I'm fine with it, but the ground is saturated, so there will be flooding for sure in this area. I put my rain gauge out, because I want to know how much rain I REALLY get, since the weather stations I view always have different answers. I will put it away before it gets cold and freezes. Not supposed to get below freezing until sometime on Sunday. Bad weather in NW Illinois, though, and north.

Had freezing mist last night and today. Winter storm warning now for tomorrow into Sunday with 5-8 inches of snow predicted. Got snow blower ready and already have ice melt down on the sidewalks and driveway. Going to finish up my Christmas shopping tomorrow. Something about shopping when it's snowing just seems to make it much better.

Of course just in time for saturday and we leave in the morning to my sisters 3 hours away in Kansas for my family xmas....argh let alone my grandkids from oklahoma and new grandson from missouri are going there too.......double arghhhh Keep wishing it would just go further south (sorry to all those just south of there!) but dangit I hate when the roads can get bad and my kids have to drive right into it. As for us well we'll be heading right into it too it sounds like (so far)...may just have to stay the night (provided we make it) bet my sister would just luv having all 14 of us staying over night!

The snow only lasted a few hours. Only a couple of inches but enough that my neighbor's rear wheel drive truck with snow cables couldn't get out of our neighborhood. About an hour later a snow plow came through and plowed it all away. I drove out to the gym in the afternoon and pretty much all the snow had gone. It was just what the kids wanted, just enough snow for no school. It's now 40F (4C) and no forecast of snow for the rest of the week.
