bad habit lol, always up early, sleep early. Long time work habits and honey gets up early to head to work.

He had NINE days of driving to work left! officially retired as of 1/3/14 using up some sick leave, then has to go back on the 2 and 3 to officially leave the government!

They say winter mix coming on monday we will see, maybe maybe not lol

make sure it is red wine, good for you heart, blood sugars and mind
My wife retired last year addy.
Sure is nice having her home instead of worrying about her driving in. Especially with the recent weather.

It is kind if sad when you have to retire after working so hard for your whole life, while it will be relaxing, I am very sure he will miss it lots too. It is like leaving and starting a whole new life and it will take time to adjust to not working after so many years....
Colleen, he is retiring early, very very happy to get out of the gov, it is so badly run. Doubt he will miss one second of work, they broke up his work group, reassigned everybody, on and on, he can't wait.

He drives 45 miles one way every time he goes in, bad washington traffic, can't wait for that to stop. Takes him a hour each way.
I retired early to move and marry him, not one regret, love being home on my own schedule.

Though it might be like leaving the military, after 12 years I quit in 2000 and man was that hard, I used to dream about still working there all the time after I left.... even though I was happy to be out, a part of me missed working there for many years....

I thought he might have issues with not working, talking to others than me, but after the last furlough, being home for the 3 weeks, he said he will have no problem.
He said it made him realize he was ready to be out of there. He has been there 31 years.

Good morning everyone! The pictures from Alberta are making me homesick. I had six great years up in the Idaho Panhandle south of y'all. The snow up there is a different beast from what we get down here in the Ozarks. Tomorrow an extended period of freezing rain followed by sleet and then snow is forecast. Today, we'll hit the mid 60s with lots of sunshine. I predict packed stores and gas stations. The city I live in is very hilly with lots of curvy steep roads. Snow is o.k, but the 1/2 to 1 inch of ice before is going to be a big problem.

Everyone in the midwest be careful with the wintry mix that is heading our way! I will have plenty of food, and just going to pray no power outage. 3 years ago, had bad ice storm in January, was BEAUTIFUL to see it on all the trees and power lines, ... once my elecricity came back on that is. Only was off for 8 hours, and all during the night time. I hope I get so lucky again, if it has to go off. My truck will be ready, but if we get just ice, I will stay home on Friday. I have plenty of time off to take.

Today is suppose to be our last warm day for awhile. Temps to drop daily. Of course, our weather is nothing compared to you snowy cold folks.

"The lowest temperture I have ever experienced was during a 1977 severe blizzard in Keflavike, Iceland. With wind factor it was -71f, 12 foot snow drifts. Of course we were restricted to our housing. Glad the Russians didn't pick that day to attack North America."

23 here and drizzle..which has made the roads abit slick I hear. Am off today and dont plan on going or doing anything after working 30 hrs the past 3 days! Oh retirement how I dream of you...12 more years for the other half (government job) and me well I'll see how far I am on paying off my student loans by then lol! He claims were buying a new truck and camper and just taking off for 120 days when he retires...nice dream though we shall see. Meanwhile the pond is all open with our nice weather we have had...soon to change with our temp nosediving this week into the single digits for the lows and 20's/teens for the highs...yuck.
