Workers here yesterday installing new drip edge. The Americanized foreman was originally from San Salvadore. His two men from Guatemala. Seemed to like the yard. Each sat and relaxed by the pond after their work was done. I was surprised when they pulled out their phones to take pictures of the pond. :)

Funny you say that Lou - the gentleman that services my furnace every year put a pond in at his home after he had been to my house! Last year, I gave him some of my specialty waterlilies.

I take lots of pictures with my cell phone but don't transfer them "on line" or that would cost losts, but I "blue tooth" the pictures from my cell phone to my computer for free, cause "blue tooth" is just between cell and computer, no internet involved. I find I saved tons of money compared to the old days, when you had to send them away to be developed, then wait to see what the pictures looked like, and then spent lots to get them developed only to have some look terrible. Life is short, I need to take lots of pictures so when I am real old I can have a "slide show" of what the garden looked like back in the "good old days"! We are LIViNG right Now in the GOOD OLD DaY's!! :)

Both of my kids have the Wal-Mart Straight Talk plan, they both went from talk and text phones to data packages. I'm paying over $75/mo for just my Verizon phone, no data since it's an older phone. But, if I get the Straight Talk, it's right at $45/mo taxes and fees included! And, it's unlimited everything - talk, text, data, so you don't have to worry about cost for downloading pics. I'm not promoting Wal-Mart phones, believe me, I've heard people say it's bad, not very good service, but both of my kids say it's as good or better than what they had. I have perfect service no trees by me to get in the way. LOL I just want to save that extra $30/month! The main thing I do NOT like about the smart phones is the battery life. It seems like everyone I know that has a smart phone (Iphone, Galaxy, whatever) is more connected to the wall than ever before. They HAVE to have a charger in the car, or phone will die during a car ride. When are they going to get a battery that is small, and holds a charge better? Some say it's because people leave internet windows open, and it's sucking the battery life with that, but my sister says she doesn't do that. I also worry about smart phones that hackers can get in and see even more on your personal phone than on your computer. Maybe I'm just .... old .... LOL I worry about things like that.
Oh, my son has a Samsung something or other, not too fancy, daughter got the step up from him, maybe the "3". Now daughter got an Iphone, cause her and her boyfriend wanted to "Face Talk" ... I guess that's where you can talk and see the other person, and show what is around you ... so she is going to give me her Galaxy to try out when my phone plan expires in October. That way I can see if I like it before I buy a phone. Maybe I'll just buy hers!
Anyone have any reasons why Iphone is better than other smart phones, other than Itunes and so forth automatically transfer? Just wondering.

my husband has a work supplied I phone 4 , I think 4, he hates it. My 14 year old flip phone works better than his Iphone i.e. reception, same service verizon. We have lousy service out here, our house even though wide open is in a dead spot. Go down the driveway and you go from 1 or no bars to 5. I am just learning the samsung galaxy2. When he retires he will take over the 2 and I will get an upgrade. I like to play with them he is a very basic user.

That's funny, cause my sister has a smart phone, maybe Motorola?, her kids both got Iphones. They are all on Verizon, didn't change providers, just phones, and the kids have little or no service at their house, she has perfect service. Now how does that work? My boss lives in a non-Verizon area, dead area in lots of places, and yet when she got Iphones, they went to Verizon because of the plan cost. She says no problems at home, same dead areas when she is driving and calls me at work. I always thought it was the provider, not the phone, but this is proving that theory wrong ... three times!

I am moving.... going to live outside in my bug free zone for the rest of the summer by the pond!! Here I am right now, typing away by candle light, can't believe how nice and warm it still is tonight, at 72 degrees!

I finished this padio area just tonight, lugged yet six more heavy cement blocks home today again, finished the job, and it turned out so beautiful! Tomorrow when the sun is out I will get some pictures for sure, stay tuned to the "weather thread" to see my finished results tomorrow afternoon!! :)

Funny how back in the day we got along fine with one hardwired telephone and antenna television. Time has brought so many changes. I should also look at the fact that back in the day there may not have been the medicines and treatments that keep me going. Back in the day I could have been pushing up daisies.

:)

My hubby has a straight talk phone but he only does the $30 per month 1000 mins plan and he has tons of minutes left over. It uses the Verizon cell towers and that it the only ones that will work out here where we live. Tried others but no reception.
