Holy cow, that's crazy talking, Addy! Snow, and you had 70's in Feb/March. What a very strange winter/spring we have all had! I hope the snow doesn't do any damage to your flowers and plants. But, snow is easier on plants than hard frosts. I noticed my coneflowers must have gotten a little set back in the 2 hard frosts we had last week, but they will come out of it, I would guess. The plants are large and green, just look funny at the top, like someone smooshed them down about 6" from when they were reaching higher! Hopefully they will still bloom this year.

I have had a lot of the new growth damaged, the plants seem to be coming out of it with no problem The peach trees, bloomed great, but did not set one peach, most likely they bloomed so early no bugs to fertilize them.

Wow, I didn't think about the trees blooming and not having bugs to pollinate them! I planted 2 apple trees a year ago last fall. One bloomed (Fuji) this spring, has apples still hanging in there, even though we had the hard frosts a week ago. Not sure if they will remain or drop, though. The other tree (Gala) didn't even bloom either year. Some people talked about butterfly bushes being damaged by the frosts, but mine are up against my house on the east side, so likely missed the frosts, as they are tall and growing like crazy. Here's a pic of them - 2 different colors; the dark green is the standard purple flower, the yellow leaf one in the middle is a burgandy colored flower. Obviously, the purple flowering type if the hardiest. :)

my butterfly bushes all had great growth on them, all wiped out by the hard frost, just starting to grown again.

My friend said all hers died way back, too, so I'm glad mine were up against the house, which did not get any frost damage. I noticed my Cone Flowers looked a little damaged on the top of them. Not brown or frost bit, but like something sat on them and kept them from reaching upwards for about a week. Really strange, but it had to be the frost, I would guess. They are not yet blooming, so hoping they will bloom when it's the right time.

My cone flowers were not up very far when the frost hit, they didn't get hit. We have some red tip photina's, neat bush, ever green, the new growth is red. One did fine, one slight frost burn, one hit horrible hard. All on the same fence, the one hit the hardest was on the highest part of the slope. But they are all have some great new growth on them again.

Now they are saying 4-8 inches of snow western maryland, we are in the maybe an inch area.

Yikes, if you look on the weather.com, I'm in the middle of that red cell just southwest of Effingham, IL! It was a nice day up until about 4:30, started light showers off and on. Heard thunder and saw lightening in the distance, gathered dogs and cats and came inside. Wind had been out of the northeast all day, mostly east, which is strange, we usually have west winds.
Storm turned it up to a 10! Winds switched to west, hailing 1/2" against front of my house (west side). Then, within 10 minutes, I kept hearing pinging on the back sliding glass door (east side) and now winds have swung back to from the east, and it's hailing very little, enough to be annoying hearing the ping every 30 seconds or so. LOLl I love being inside, watching the storms!
BUT, as I was watching it hail, I realized I left my truck outside to get washed in the rain. Doubt 1/2" hail will do any damage. Glad I didn't fill my ponds, though, which were both a little low, as this is going to fill them to the brim, I have a feeling. Really raining hard. Hope the rain gauge is still standing and didn't get blown over.

It was blowing, raining, hailing, then like someone turned off the switch, QUIET!!! That scared me more than the storm. I love watching storms come in across the prairie, but when it all of a sudden gets quiet, and the wind lays, that worries me more than anything else. Guess I'm just in the middle of two cells now. One is past, calm after that cell, hoping the next one goes north of me, but looks like it may get me, too. I can hear distant thunder again. Oh well! Will have to clean house tomorrow, looks like. LOL

LOL, well you ladies have men in your houses, so you have to do more about keeping them spic and span, I would guess. I live by myself, and if I have company coming that I know of, I make sure and clean. If not, I work outside if it's nice. No need wasting a perfectly good day by being inside cleaning. :) But, it's a joke around here, "When it rains (or snows), I'll clean the house."
Got 1.25" of rain, so now it can please stop and move on to the east coast where my friend dearly need some good amounts of moisture! Please and thank you, Mother Nature!
