Sorry Howard, I think choke cherrys won't do well there, they need to freeze good and go domant I believe. If you never heard of any growing down there, that might be why! :)

Currently only 16 degrees, sick to death of the long cold spring! Help save me!! Will the trees ever get leaves at this rate???

You may well be right about the cherries.

I talked with one of my three sisters and she said they are a PIA to prepare. So maybe not such a good idea.

Oh, man, HTH, the wind is a killer, and that's some high winds! I always say I can handle 10 degrees with sun and no wind. But, give me 40 degrees, cloudy, and high winds, and I want to cry!
It was a beautiful day here today, right at 70, sunny, and light breeze. Went to park to eat my lunch. Chance of rain tonight and tomorrow, and high tomorrow only supposed to be about 60, but I'll take it. Hibiscus are outside since this morning, will have to bring them back in tomorrow evening. At least they are light enough to go in and out. Wish I had a greenhouse like Colleen ... that will be in my future plans!
Here are some flower pics to brighten your day, Colleen!!!

We got about 4 inches or a little more of snow starting on Saturday nite and ending on Saturday afternoon. Looks like mid 60's toward the end of the week and low 70's toward the end of next week. I hope extended weather is right I'm so ready for warmer weather.

Back to the 40s today.

My wife came up with an easy to build greenhouse that she constructed with just a little help from me. If we had used non twisted lumber she could have done it.

This is still the first version and she is still working out some bugs.. Currently the plastic is held in place with the concrete blocks I had collected for pond construction. But they will be replaced by wiggle wire the next time it gets a new skin.

The parts are about $500, more if you use UV greenhouse plastic which is the way to go.

Well I got some of the yard cleaned up in the front around the little pond, and then I had coffee with a good gardening friend of mine, we complained about the weather, but enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and looked for signs of life in her yard. We sat in a nice sunny little nook of her garden and soaked up some much needed sun, now I feel much better! :)

Todays high should be 52 degrees, but by Friday, it is suposed to get in the 70's! I should have the front pond all running by then, just doing some rock moving and want to clear an area there for a little stream but that will have to wait for my next day off. I got the guck that had fallen in the little pond over winter, combined with the snow and rain water that I removed yet again. Even though that little pond was empty and cleaned out last fall, the snow and rain and leaves made a big mess and had to be cleaned out again cause water that sits and does not circulate gets ugly fast!!

Brrrrrrrrrr, it's cold here right now in the 30's. Hoping it warms up to the 60's as they predicted. Need to mow my lawn.........couldn't do it yesterday,no gas and not my job to get any. Found another cell phone, found 3 so far in the past few months. So far have been able to find all the owners. This one belongs to a cattle farmer down the road. Say hi to him whenever I walk by his place. Will deliver it to him today on my walk. Sure is getting more and more common to find those suckers on the roads.

It is still 26F here I am trying to convince myself to go over and work in the unheated shop. It is not warming as fast as they prjected so I doubt we will get the 42F high.
