Ryan, you're making it harder on yourself than you need to. My large bog on the goldfish pond is fed with one pump, that is sitting on a milk crate in the pond, deepest part, but then 14" from the bottom. It goes to the bog with one pipe, then attaches to the PVC which then splits with a T and I have 2 runs.
Have fun with your bog build/rebuild! We'll be waiting for pics after the weekend you know ....
Ok, lets start by, holy buckets of hell my back hurts. K, now thats out of the way, here it goes.

Well, I sweet talked my dear ole dad into helping me today. hehehehe, if he only knew what he was getting into. I started off this morning, bushy tailed and not so much bright eyes, but they were open. Dad arrived with the best thing ever. DONUTS and chocolate milk. Not some cheap donuts, but the best Des Moines has to offer. We had breakfast and I quickly got to work. I knew I had a long days work ahead of me. I wanted some pictures of how it looked before. I started by taking off one fence panel. IMG_3654.JPGIMG_3655.JPG Once I got the water turned off to the bog I started to scoop out the gravel with a 3 gallon bucket that I had. Here is the bog almost empty of the gravel. You can see the plumbing for the waterfall running under the bog in the very front of it.IMG_3656.JPG Once most of the gravel was out, we got out the shop vac and cleaned every last inch of the bog.IMG_3659.JPGIMG_3663.JPG Found the problem with the old pipe, some of the slots were plugged. I didn't think I need clean outs on the bog, but I was wrong. Now that the bog was all clean, I put in a new liner over the old one. I didn't want to tear it out, plus its a added layer of protection. Got my pipe heater going, LOL IMG_3665.JPG. Everything from where the pipe enters the bog in the far corner to the very end right where it 90's up for the clean outs, has slits cut in the bottom of it.IMG_3668.JPG I thought about running a third pipe in the middle but my dad said that most of the water would go straight thru and not out the ones on the side so I just put a cap on it and called it good. IMG_3669.JPG and the risers for the clean outs. IMG_3673.JPG My supervisor (aka dad) said I was doing a good jobIMG_3674.JPG And the finished product. IMG_3675.JPG I did run a new pipe run and put in a pump just for the bog. I'll take some pictures of that once the water clears from this so I can explain that. Time to get some muscle relaxers and a nice glass of wine and head to bed. Its been a long day of very hard work, but now its done and done the right way!!

interesting lunch can of soda and melted pvc . Ok can I ask you one tiny question .I noticed your air conditioner on brackets and bryant is redoing my heat pump with new units and he gave me 2 options one is that type of mount and the other is standard on the anti vibration pad mount .I have my heat pump now on an anti vibration pad but was wondering about the house mount .Do you hear it running inside on that type mount .I know this is not about your build but can't find an answer here any where .The few houses I saw with the house mount are vacant .He will be replacing the vibration pad here as it is not bryant approved

I'm so happy to see that Spring has finally coming around for almost everyone, now. I've been working myself to the limit, in order to be as prepared as I can possibly be for the day all Hell breaks loose...and Summer blazes in for....eveerrrrr.
And, so that's what I've been doing. But, that's not why I haven't been around here.
Uuh, that would be because when I can just barely move, after having put in a full day, plus some, working around outside........I use whatever it takes to get me next to the pond's edge... just to watch my water family move about, hour after hour after hours pass by.
I finally got all the critters out in the big pond, and, it's been quite a show. I wasn't sure how it was going to workout, but I knew big Missy would have big ideas as soon as she saw all those big fishies swimming around. And then there was depressing DB Ninja, still living in the bathtub...poor little Dog Bone. I had to do it....it was a turtle pond, too. It was going to be whatever it was going to be, and they would just have to learn to live with it. And, so would I, which wasn't easy at first.
Cook-e, who used to be known as Hamburger (I changed her name after making a heartbreaking decision to donate her to Dr. Cooke's veterinary practice because I could not afford the cost of healing my eggbound turtle in order to save her life. But he could, and he did. Then he freely returned her to me... no charge. Having saved her life, I name changed her to Cook-e.)well, she went crazy-chasing fish, stressing me to the max, and then :lamp5: !!! It dawned on me, I needed Ninja!
DB could care less about those fish. All he cares about is catching that Cook-e, but cook-e ain't having that, she's having fish. The fish are flying, trying hard nt to become lunch. They soon figure out there's one turtle to look out for and the other one must be meant to not so hard to follow for.
It's like a three ring circus...two turtles and fish  .
I don't think there are 33 fish anymore. But, the good news is, she's had her fill of chasing fast flying fish (probably kinda full, too)and found it's much easier to munch on the masses of string algae...where she can relax and easily watch her back, too. :ugh:

Pretty much all of the new units being installed in our area are on the mounts. We don't hear it at all unless were are in that bedroom where the ac unit sits directly below the window and thats only if we are right over by the window. Plus its harder for someone to steal the ac unit if its on the mounts. I know it sounds crazy, but it happens more than you think.

Went back out to the pond this morning to check on the fish and the water. To my surprise, the water was pretty clear considering I redid the whole bog yesterday. I didn't want the pump in the deep end of the pond to mess with the water during the winter. There was a area that was in the middle of the pond and about 2 ft deep. I did the whole run in pvc, which was harder than I thought since there was a sloped side I had to come up. I dry fitted all the pieces in the water and marked with a crayon how they needed to line up so I could glue them together. I also didn't want the bright white pipe sticking out like a sore thumb in the pond, so I took some of the left over pond liner that I cut off from the bog and cut it length wise into a strip of about a foot wide. Once I was done with gluing them, I wrapped the pipe in the strip of liner that I cut. I used black zip ties to secure it and then I zip tied the cord to the pump right to the pipe. Been busy lately at work and have not posted much. Thought it was about time. Thought I would share some photos with everyone. Nice weather here for us and we have been out and about cleaning up the yard pond and garden when not at work for 68 hours a week. Also have some new babies! We have 37 baby chicks we hatched out. Here are a few picks. Also here is a pick of our cat Ranger puss. No I didnt name it either the kids did! He has been wanting some fresh chicks to eat so we have to be careful when he is around. Enjoy!

"Big Lou" "]Third dose of algaecide this morning. Working great!"
..... really?? That stuff is very scary! How are your plant's doing by the way?
The three I have are doing very good. Especially the lily pads. They are just wee little pads right now yet the plant has never thrived so well. I am very careful when selecting algaecide. Years ago some brands were not safe for plants nor fish. Thank you for asking Colleen.
