That's neat, Baeya, that your turtle survived! Do you know where it stayed during the winter? I keep waiting for my little Aris, but have not seen him yet. I worry that he may have dug himself into the pea gravel in the bog, and that I might have stepped on him. I sure hope not! I guess he may have gotten out and gone somewhere else to dig into the mud somewhere, at least that's what I'm hoping.

I have no idea where he went! LOL!! I have a couple of planters sunk to the bottom of the pond with pea gravel in it.... maybe he crawled in there.

What kind of turtle is he? Mine was a red eared slider, very friendly, always came out to eat when I fed, learned how to stay away from the bigger koi, and get the pieces that floated to the side. He was so adorable, I sure hope he appears again this year. If not, maybe a new one will show up! Just hope those baby alligator snappers found homes somewhere else. Don't want ANY of them in my pond, now or in the future, no matter what size they are. Not sure how to keep them out, other than netting them and putting them back in my farm pond.

Mine is a red eared slider, as well. He or She is about 8 to 9 inches in diameter. I have a bench that I usually sit and feed from and he would come right up to me to eat pellets all last Summer. You probably remember me from last Summer. I got into Angelfish during the Winter....LOL.... I emptied my pond completely before installing the Skippy filter only to find a huge 20" snapper had been living in it!!
I'm sure glad that he is gone!!

Oh, crap, Baeya, I don't remember you finding a 20" snapper! I fear that will happen in my pond. I will keep a good watch out for a big one. The little ones had ended up in my skimmer, and I sent one to Larkin (Fishin4Cars), but he ended up giving him to another turtle enthusiast because he needed more special care than Larkin had time for with moving. I would prefer to kill the suckers, but I have been nice so far and put them back into my farm pond, which is nice and muddy a great environment for them. I keep telling them that anyhow. LOL I will make sure to watch the bottom and net the whole bottom, making sure no snapper is sitting down there waiting to snatch up a fish or ... worse, my toe if I go in the pond! Yikes!

I planted my creeping jenny bare root in my floating island and bare root at the top of my short stream. I hope it does well directly in the water...

Yes, now we have to settle for more spring like weather, since we had such beautiful "winter" weather! Only high 60's today and next few days, but I'll sure take it. Don't even mind the rain, since rain does make things GROW! I'm anxious to get a load of mulch on Sat., so hoping the rain gets done with by Fri. evening.

We were 50F today and no rain but felt rather chilly w/ the slight wind blowing. Was able to get out and traipse around the 2nd hand stores w/ daughter and grand-daughter and have a nice seafood lunch. Just glad it isn't raining here and you guys can have all the rain you want!

I agree with JW! But, then, I'm beginning to think anyone who has a pond is a hard working person! Seems we all enjoy the hard work of building a pond, and then the constant upgrades and maintenance as well. I sure am enjoying mine. Holy cow, Sissy, how many truckloads have you put down? I'm hoping to put one truckload down on ALL of my landscaping this weekend and be done, but guess I'd better plan on two at least, since I seem to recall using one truckload on the front half, and another for the back, and I've added to it since then ....

Very strange weather day here in IL Rainy morning, then quit, sun came out. Boss and I went to Kohls shopping before lunch (I had 30% off coupon, and she had $20 Kohls cash, so we HAD to!!!) and it let loose with downpour and hail while we were in store. Came out to no rain. Stopped and got pizza, rained again, once again stopped when we came out. Her kids' school kept the kids at end of day, tornado was sighted close by. We had sunshine. Sunny when I got home, then all of a sudden, and I mean ALL OF A SUDDEN the weather changed and wind picked up and rain. Got all the dogs inside in time and everything battened down ... at least I hope I did!
