My red bud trees are getting a few blooms (not the regular ones, just the burgandy leaf ones, whichis weird!) and I noticed some bud on my flowering crab trees. My dogwood has not budded out yet at all, but I know my friend had one last year (it's the pink variety) and she thought it was dead as it came out much later than other trees. My boss was saying at work today, "Are those trees supposed to have leaves on them now already?" She has allergies to everything it seems. LOL So not happy that trees are leafing out, or the grass is getting mowed. I personally love it! Next year, we may not have leaves until end of May, but I'll take it this year. Heard St. Louis broke a record for high on Sunday, and the old record was over 100 years old! Broke record again yesterday and maybe today. It's one thing to have 80's for a day or maybe 2 in March, but a whole darn week of it? Yeah, I'm loving it, but also very concerned about what other strange things will happen with the weather this year.

We got more snow again today. We have a winter weather advisory in affect until 10 am tomorrow. Snow and blowing snow causing difficult driving at times. 1 to 3 more inches of snow expected. Thursday it looks like 45 and then starts going up to the low 50's. I am so ready to get my pond started up.

I think all my tulips from last year died. I've not seen any of them pushing through the ground. Ticks me off, as they were very expensive bulbs, and the hyacinth bulbs right next to them were perfect this year, so not sure what happened. Oh well, I never did have very good luck with tulips!
80's expected again today, then severe storms pushing in this evening and tomorrow and .... well we shall see what else. 75 still predicted for tomorrow, so I'll take the rain.

Yeah, I've not 100% given up hope, but they were blooming right after the hyacinths last year, and the hyacinths have been blooming for over a week. The tulips are not even up, so that leaves me little hope .....

It is 60 and sunny today and 70's and sunny for the rest of the week.

Yesterday I picked up some sweet flag for the pond and some ice plant and phlox for the beds. Today I ran to my favorite nursery at lunch and picked up some creeping jenny for the pond :)

Spring is here!

65-75 again all this week, but chance of storms and rain every single day. We have had a few showers here and there, which is helping the plants and trees a lot, But annoying me because I would really like to ride the motorcycle to work and save me some money on gas.

Clear skies this weekend though, perfect weather to start the new pond build.

Got my pepper seeds all planted inside the house... if i would have known it would get nice so early i would have started them sooner. And the one pepper plant i wintered in the house to keep is back outside... and i already see a few tiny red peppers growing on it!!! Im going to have fresh peppers WAY before everyone else around here.

Tulips blooming everywhere, daffodils almost done, just beautiful weather. When we get back tomatoes, peppers going into the garden, I started them from seeds about 6 weeks ago

Pecan, when I saw my brother's Creeping Jenny (he lives in WA), I begged some from JW, and OMG, they are going great guns. I planted them last year and they are really spreading out. I'm glad, too, because I want to plant some starts of it along my new creek on both sides, and along the waterfall area, too, see if it will grow in towards the water. The creek will be very shallow, so maybe it will even grow across it.
I have not checked the weather for a long time, as it has been so unseasonably mild here in IL, but just checked it, since they are calling for storms the next few days. I figured we were due to get down to the 50's or so, but nope! Rain is coming in late tonight, and big chance tomorrow and slight chance Fri and Sat., but temps right around 70. Will miss the sunshine, but we always need rain, too.

It was 85 here today!! I fed the Koi for the first time this Spring today! They were a little shy but, I stood back and they ate. I was very happy to see that our turtle survived its first Winter in the pond.... :)
I planted a lot of bog plants in the new bog late last Fall and I see a little bit of growth going on. Tomorrow is family day so I'll be outside with the grandchildren all day and we can 'discover' all the plants 'waking up' for Summer!
