40's and 20's here, but this weekend watch out! Mid 50's on Sat. and 60 on Sunday and sunshine. Can't beat that for the first couple of days of December. Oh my oh my! I'm loving it!
Sissy, I laugh all the time, too. It keeps me happy and healthy and everyone likes people who smile and laugh. I worked with a grouchy secretary (until she retired about 4 years ago) and she actually told me one time I laughed too much! On the other hand, she never laughed. She was always looking at the negative side of everything, doom and gloom were her middle names. But, I just kept on smiling and telling her not to worry about things that don't concern her. Someone posted this on their Facebook page, and I "shared" it. I almost never do that, but this is just me to a "T"! I think there are others on this pond forum that would agree they are also like this. It's wonderful, as ponding seems to bring out the cheerfulness in people.

"Well said JW! I work with a lady like that too, for years she hated that I was a way happy, she used to say "nobody could be that happy all the time. She was always mad and unhappy, and we never got along before, but now she seems to have changed and is much nicer to me. I think unhappy people have some health or family issue going on, and I try not to judge cause I don't walk in their shoes, and I do get sometimes so cranky I can barely stand "myself"! When I get that way I have a nice nap with that fat Poppy and then everything so much better! :)

Currently just barely below freezing, another nice warm wind has come my way! :)

People like that get ulcers and headaches .Lifes a bowl of cherries and if you eat them and don't swallow a pit you are happy and if you plant the pits and get a hundred cherry trees you can share them and make everyone happy .

Great comparison, Sissy! Yes, Colleen, I can be very cranky at times. I just go into a room or outside and scream. LOL I make sure the dogs and cats don't think I'm mad at them, though. Then I feel better. But, taking my anger out on humans is just not acceptable. Yes, that other secretary in our office had a very hard life raising her 3 kids with no support from their father. BUT, she never made him support them. Never! He got away with it, and she never went after him. To me, don't complain about something you don't try to fix. My mom always said don't complain about being sick if you don't do something to make yourself feel better. Same issue. I'm not a complainer, I'm a fixer! I think lots of us with ponds are fixers. We like to correct mistakes, make things work better, make our fish and animals happy around us, which all makes us smile. We are content people, have to be to take the time and effort to build a pond, with all the work that goes into it. But, that work is what keeps us happy as well. If we build it right, the work is minimal. Winter is my only challenge!
Sun is shining today, which makes any cold winter day very bearable! I think supposed to get up to close to 50 today, but I'll take any temp as long as the sun is shining. Heavy frost makes the yard look white!

That's part of what is wrong with kids these days ,they need 2 parents to make them strong ,even if the parents are not together they can make a common ground with there children .They just have to agree and stick to there guns .Love is the most common ground in history and kids these days just think it is sex and babies and drugs .

I can't believe the way some of the kids act that are in our daycare. The parents tell us that they need to sleep with another person or they won't nap. I don't think so. None of our 4 kids have had to sleep with us. Our youngest one Eden, first night home from the hospital, straight to her crib. All of our kids have always slept in the crib when we got home from the hospital. I guess we just do things different. There is a kid that we watch that is 3 yrs old and the mom still gives him a bottle at night with milk in it. I don't get it.

Currently 20*F with very little ice on the pond. Topped off last night with water and it was about 1/4 iced over. Was warmer too when I put water in.

You should have heard this kid screaming on the top of his lungs yesterday for at least 20 full minutes in the grocery store where I work. It was "hard on the ears"! His mother just ignored him and continued shopping, looked like he was having a temper tantram, so it was probally best to just to ignore the brat! How is it that Oriental children's seem so very well behaved? Must say that I have never seen Oriental children behave in that manner.

It's much colder now than at 5 this morning! Cold wind and temperature dropped from 30 to 20 since this morning. Thin layer of ice on the bottom pond, have not heated pond for several days now.

Brandon, I'll just bet that the kids the parents say won't take a nap unless they are laying down with them, take naps just fine at your house! It's what they get away with at home. I worked with an attorney, who slept with her first son until he got almost as big as her (she was a small woman) at age 5, and then SHE started sleeping in his twin bed with HIM! She had a husband, too! If the boy slept in their bed, the husband slept in the kid's bed. They had a second son, when the first one was about 6, and I always wondered where he slept! I never brought either of my kids to bed with me, never. I was so afraid I would roll over on them when they were little, and I never figured out how to nurse them while laying on my side. I think it's a bad habit to do that, and lazy in my opinion.
My older sister breast fed both of her children, but she did the second child until she was 2 1/2 years old! Good grief, I think that's just a little too long! I think she did that because she had very small boobs and when she was nursing, they were bigger. LOL I did nujrse both of my kids until they were 6 months, they took a bottle until they were 9 months, then they wanted a cup. They NEVER had a bottle in bed with them, never. My son, the oldest, loved his pacifier. When I saw a child about 4 years old in the grocery store with a pacifier, I decided right there and then that my child would NOT be like that! When he was 2, he traded his pacifier for a receiving blanket covered square pillow (I made it for him) and he never looked back. Must have been the right time of the moon. His sister had a pacifier, but she loved her thumb. That was MUCH harder to get rid of. When she was 2, she was no longer allowed to suck her thumb anywhere but her bedroom. If she was caught sucking on it watching tv, I would simply ask her, "Are you tired?" The thumb came right out. LOL She still sucked it in bed until she was about 7 or 8, though. She begged me to put stuff on her thumb so she would quit, but she still sucked it. Things I had control of, I controlled.
