I am in New Zealand (Auckland). It is summer here so not cold, but man is it wet... Today is 26C (79F), 98% humidity, overcast and pissing with rain :) Last Friday we had the wettest day on record. Beat the previous record from 1869 by over 50%! Massive flooding, people dead, hundreds of houses written off, massive disruption to infrastructure, landslides, you name it. We've also had other major storms including ex-tropical cyclones in the last few weeks. This January we have had over 20 inches of rain (well over half of that on the one day) which is 45% of the annual average, 260% of the summer average & 850% of the January average (and Auckland is not a dry city).

We got off lucky at our place but it's certainly slowing down my waterfall building project! (although I now have unplanned streams lol)
Wow I should not be complaining about our measly rains!

@YShahar - Your pond is just sooooo pretty!!!!!
We woke up to temps in the 20s, but lots of sunshine. Monday is supposed to be in the 60s. I always say this is a "sick" time of year. The temperature swings back and forth seem to promote lots of colds, sinus trouble, etc. Yuck!!!!
But on the plus side of that, those warm days are good opportunities to get outside!

I am enjoying our warmer temps up in the 50's now. So what if it rains! I can handle it!
Keep the cold away please unless it brings my much beloved snow in large quantities for a short time

And just when it couldn't get any worse for us, it does...

This bastard will be here by the end of the weekend. Forecast to drop a month's worth of rain :(

So some of you may have heard, but this cyclone was devastating. 11 people dead so far and many more still missing a week on. Entire towns destroyed and entire regions of agriculture wiped out. Huge landslides, massive flooding, 100mph+ winds, 40 ft waves, houses buried to the roof in silt, no power/cell/water for huge numbers, many bridges and highways gone so many towns only accessible by helicopters which often can't even land :( Lots of videos on youtube if anyone wants to see, just look for "Cyclone Gabrielle". That's two in 100 years weather events in 2 weeks, and about a year's worth of rain in the same period, but cLimAtE cHaNgE iSnT rEaL...

I was lucky at my place compared to many but still loads of minor/moderate damage. Back to work on my waterfall/stream but the clay (under my like 2 inches of topsoil) is so saturated and dense that it's very hard going. Have sore hands, shoulders and back! Ugh...
