A balmy 53f here today! Glad we had plenty of wood for our wood stove. All free wood, just a lot of hard work and did that every hurt anyone?

Well, yes! Been to neurologist and surgeon this last week for numbness in left hand and torn rotator cuff in right! Both started after moving large load of firewood! Not getting any younger but haven't figured how to slow down yet

Don't ever slow down unless you have a few sick days to recoup and yep then back to work! I am getting over a diverticulitis flareup. On liquids only so no strength yet to do any hard labor. Soon tho, gotta get that wood we cut up into rounds over at the sheep farm.

Looking at at least 2 surgeries this next year. Until then, going to do what I can. One the weather warms back up going to flush the filters and do some work on the bog.

Good luck! I lost all of this year, from March until October due to my arms. Sure have a nice crop of dead weeds out there. Hope to catch up, sort of, before spring.

Maryland psycho weather is hitting again, going from warmer than normal to colder than normal for a few days ie 15 f at night 27 day, then back to warmer than normal one day later.

27f day 15f am, on Saturday. 50f on Sunday

Right now have the cold weather coats out and the warmer weather coats out.

It's 15 here in upstate NY High above the Mohawk River in a tiny rural Village. I live on the site of an old Mohawk Indian settlement) I can look across to the Adirondack Mountains. The creek that runs through the village is covered in ice at the edges. We have a snow cover of about 4-6". Yes,I am a weather phone. We have a weather station with wind meter. I actually took a weather spotter course years ago. We had a farm and knowing when to hay was pretty important. Now in retirement,it's a hobby. Off to run some errands after lunch. Driving right to the foothills of the Adirondacks. I need feed for the birds, squirrel's and deer that stop by. I go to a family farm run by an ambitious young couple. Get 40 lb bags of farm grown feed. Separating the males and females guppies later. My cousin and decided we're a bit too old now to care for them. I'll start advertising to re-home. Keeping my outside ponds for the native frogs. Temps dropping way below zero tonight. Stay warm.

The winter rains have finally arrived!

First-rain-over-pond_9Nov22-web.jpg

After three weeks of spring-like weather (during which I got a fair bit done on the bog-to-be) winter suddenly happened. We went from short-sleeve weather to just above freezing in a day, and the rain is filling up the coastal aquifer far beneath the pond. The weather report shows another three weeks of wintry weather. No snow in the forecast for my area, but Jerusalem will probably get some.

I am in New Zealand (Auckland). It is summer here so not cold, but man is it wet... Today is 26C (79F), 98% humidity, overcast and pissing with rain :) Last Friday we had the wettest day on record. Beat the previous record from 1869 by over 50%! Massive flooding, people dead, hundreds of houses written off, massive disruption to infrastructure, landslides, you name it. We've also had other major storms including ex-tropical cyclones in the last few weeks. This January we have had over 20 inches of rain (well over half of that on the one day) which is 45% of the annual average, 260% of the summer average & 850% of the January average (and Auckland is not a dry city).

We got off lucky at our place but it's certainly slowing down my waterfall building project! (although I now have unplanned streams lol)
