We got an inch of rain last night. My county was in a severe drought status. It still is pretty bad. Heavy rain has been going either north or south of my county all summer. I know it will balance out so i'm not concerned. I would rather water the gardens vs have them over watered. The ponds would appreciate more rain, though.

If you live at the top of a hill, you are subject to wildfire hazards.
We don't have any big trees close enough to worry about wild fires.

sometimes mud slides can happen if you live at the top of the hill also

No mud slides here, we are a bit of clay with a ton of rock. I have not even seen my ponds rocks walls shift with all this wet.

per Florence, if it hits us it will be rain rain rain, which we don't need. Still saying landfall will be the Carolinas, MAYBE!
My county was in a severe drought status.
And we are in a severe wet status! geez!

Well it appears we are Florence safe, it is heading further south. My thoughts and prayers to all of you in its path!
We might get some rain, the bay will have a storm surge, but nothing like they are predicting for the Carolinas.

They have on the news our task force is heading down to south Carolina with supplies, search dogs, boats to help with the rescue missions.

We are well prepared and hunkered down at home. Generator and gas ready to go, all supplies gathered, fish tanks had 95% water changes yesterday, our 4 cats have no idea what is coming. I will be very scared but will hopefully be fine. I will let you all know how it goes here, 35 mi. west of Morehead City and Atlantic Beach NC. Our neighborhood is not in a flood zone thank heavens.

Our thought has always been, if you are totally prepared then the storm will miss you! Not expecting more than a lot of rain and maybe some wind now. Ponds both netted with leaf netting, filters flushed and water levels dropped. I pulled out the generator for the ponds but it seems the mice got into the shed and built a nest next to the exhaust so will work on that tomorrow. Totally recovered from concussion I got trying to net the ponds Monday. Time to sit back and wait for Florence.

Rained on and off all day, low 70s. To anyone in the path of the incoming storm may you all remain safe and unharmed. Some incredible people who work in the South Carolina aquarium have moved all their turtles to higher ground, volunteer staff will then remain in the aquarium to ride out the storm and see to the safety of its aquatic inhabitants, in my eyes they are brave. Tanks have been covered, water and food for the animals is stocked, and these volunteers will care for the animals. @BarbO be safe.
