Usually it melts the next day or so, esp this time of year, we are going back up into the 50's right after. But you never know, one shift of highs and lows and we get dumped on, lol.

The pond is getting its winter cleaning today, still leaving the pump running.

Thanks fishylove, He's trying to feel better, still has a long road ahead, has not yet had the radiation treatment.

A very nice friend that I worked with died Monday. I just saw her like a month ago. When I last saw her I noticed that her one eye had started "wander" more than usual, she had a lazy eye. It also appeared to bulge out that day I saw her, and I said, hey Nellie, your having eye problems? She said she was going to the doctor to have it checked out, and I said that was good, couldn't help but worry. Never saw her again after that. Her sister Pat works at the same place we did, they were very close and always together. She's taking it very hard.

So just heard she passed the other day, and I asked how?? They told me that she went to the doctor and they found cancer everywhere, she had lung cancer (she smoked for years) and did not know it, and it had spread everywhere, kidney, liver and her head had a tumor that caused her eye to wander more and bulge. Crazy, I now know lots of people with cancer, it seems to be everywhere, what's going on!

Colleen, glad you made it through those terrible foggy drives. That's scary, I agree! And, glad your hubby is healing, slowly but surely.
Yes, once you are aware of cancer in someone close, it seems to "come out of the closet" all around you. I think people are more likely to mention cancer when they know you have dealt with it yourself or in your family. Always good to be supportive of anyone, cancer or not. I think you are a VERY supportive person yourself!
Was 42 here this morning, 32 a few mornings ago. Frost hit then, but not much died from it. Still have blooms going on everywhere in my yard.
Planning to pull the lily pots to groom them this weekend. Still not sure how I'll get to the deep ones that I can't reach from the sides, though ... Someone suggested waders, but I'll still have to lean over and reach them a few of which are 2' or more down! Sounds cold to me! LOL

its 48 here right now. Planning on cutting the cattails back today and going to try to hook up my spare pump as a pond vac to siphon out the leaves in the deep end of the pond. Going to use a garden hose and stick it into a 1 1/2" flex hose by cutting a small hose in the flex hose just big enough to slide the garden hose in and seal it up. My hope is that the force of the water flowing thru the flex hose will siphon water from the small hose and create a suction. Not sure if I'm going to dump the water into the yard or put a mesh bag on the end and just left the water dump back in the pond. Will post the out come later.

Well not raining here today yet but poured for awhile again last night. Managed to get 6 more trees cut down so only 20 some left now to cut. Forgot to take my Ibuprofen and ended up hurting a lot. Then the guy comes over to us who owns the property and says "oh by the way I have a whole other area on the other side of my 10 acres w/ tons more trees to cut when and if you want anymore". Yikes, I think we'll wait till maybe next year to think about cutting anymore and by next year I mean end of next year.............man I'm pooped just thinking about that one

Was 32 and heavy frost this morning. Heading up to the 50's and sunny though, so I'm not complaining. I never could understand frost, though. Earlier this week, 32 in the a.m., no frost in the back (east) yard, but light frost in the front (west) yard when I left for work. Why so heavy this morning? Does it have to do with the humidity level the night before, and if there was going to be dew on the grass that morning? Anyhow, heading to an auction today. Not going to buy anything in particular, but there is a pile of rocks and a grouping of neat looking 8x8, 8x4 and corner glass blocks I'll be watching to see how much they go for. Not sure what I would do with them, but they sure are neat looking. Only consider bidding if they go really CHEAP! And, does anyone know what a "pip pip water garden fountain" would be? I tried looking it up, found nothing on the internet.

Very sunny here but last night a TV show displayed a strobe light that triggered a seizure on the left side of my brain which impacted the right side of my body, including eye.. Doing okay yet extremely tired and foggy. At least my favorite college football team won.

That doesn't sound good Lou and hope that doesn't happen to you again! Seems like the doc could give you something to help w/ those. I've heard of that happening to some people. My neighbor has a grandson who has a problem w/ seizures when playing those video games. What show were you watching that had a strobe light in it? Hope you feel better and glad your team one!

60* and sunny here but wihe the wind chill feels like 40. Possible bad weather (again) coming so cleaned out the lilies in the ginrin pond. I really hated to do it as they were still blooming but didn't want to wait till the water froze. Pulled out the 2 gallon buckets they were planted in and put them in the square planting baskets. No more kitty litter! Some of the buckets had been tipped over and others had the plants pulled out. I put plastic fencing over the tops of the baskets and fastened it with zip ties. Poor fishies miss their plants. No more endless salad bar or hiding places. Will drop the stock tank heaters in tommorow just in case.
