Our weather? CRAZY! Last year our ground had 32" of snow on it and it rarely got above 20 for a high in January. Now, we have no snow, nights in the 20s and today and tomorrow are predicted to be in the low 50s. I expected to need an ice breaker to go out with my row boat all winter, today the lake is ice free, glassy and begs for me to come on out, which I'll do after lunch. I never dreamed I'd be able to go for a row or sail in January!

Been above freezing last few days. Finally was able to get In the pond. Well over it and pull my pumps my smaller back up pump died and suspect it tripped the gfi.wich shut of the main pump to the bog. The main pump is good. Reattached it to the bog. Had to melt some ice In the bog to get it to flow again. Just to find out my stream by pass pipe broke from freezing. Will go to hd.tommorrow and get it fixed for under 3 bucks. Got to see about 15 or so fin friends so all looks good so far

200 watts but they also say they come in bigger wattages .You can get options for it also ,I read there are holders for those cut outs .So far it has not moved even with the heavy rains last night and the strong winds .Since it is so big it will keep a nice big hole open .I will see if the pond ices over again and see if it works like said.Fish have been checking it out View attachment 107620 View attachment 107621 View attachment 107622

I had that heater when I first installed my 400g pond. It didn't last long. It kept the water open only about a half inch away from it and one day I went out and it was completely frozen.

It's funny how weather works sometimes. I've waited all winter for a snow of at least a couple inches so I could scatter my seeds and they'd have that layer of snow protection. I couldn't wait any longer and did it yesterday, and now we're expecting 2"-4" tomorrow night into Monday.

Wow, a huge area a town or two over from me is under mandatory evacuations. The ice from a river created a dam. People are being rescued by helicopter, and the Red Cross is set up in a High School. Roads are under over 5 feet of water. It's hard to believe flooding is getting worse when temps are about 3 degrees F.

Thanks guys. I'm on high ground. I feel bad for the rescue crew wading through 4 feet of ice water, and for the damaged homes. As far as I know, everyone has been rescued and are safe. There was a couple of horses stranded on a knoll. They wouldn't swim across. I don't blame them.
.
This is on a major road that runs just north of the Champlain Islands, and into New York. Unless you go up into Canada, It's about an extra 65 miles to get around this. Provided you don't run into problems from one of the other rivers.
.
It's -20 this morning. Everything that was flooded is going to freeze. Houses, cars ect...

Again. where is that "dislike" button??? LOL Can't like your post, Addy, but I understand it! My weather did that same crazy thing few days ago. But, the good news is the sun follows those bitter temps. Was sunny all days yesterday and supposed to be today and maybe tomorrow, too! I'll always take the sun and 8 degrees over gloomy 30 degrees any day. :)

OMG!!!!! That's just awful, Mike! I can't imagine that kind of disaster! Feel soooo bad for those horses, but what can you do? Can't send a helicopter to rescue them, they would freak out! I just hope they have food on that knoll and some way to get to water since it's going to all freeze. :(
