Hahaha no way that will happen! I sometimes talk about her on FB, and she DOES have a FB account, but never goes on it, and surely never looks at my stuff.51 w/showers.
Glad you made it home safe and congrats on all the new little ones @CountryEscape and by the way.................your boss just joined the forum
Lisa, I have had that happen with my horse water tank heater. What I have found helps a LOT is propping the cord so it is above the tank, not laying to the side. If the cord is above the heater (use a stake in the ground, and tie the cord to it about 2' above the water level) that seems to take care of the tipping issue.@sissy what brand heater is that? I have the same problem with my de-icer - it's like a bobber that tilts sideways with every little breeze. It's fine when it's on ice or the hole is small, but when it melts a good sized hole it just sloooooooowly lists to one side!
Oh darn! I have always used water tank heaters, but your low profile heater looks perfect for our ponds. I've not used any heaters for this is my third winter. I like having water moving to keep opening in the ice better. I think the circulation is good for the fish as well. BUT, does anyone remember Randy from Indiana? I got my first 5 koi from him, a private breeder. He lost a bunch of his koi this year with a faulty heater, it was shorting out. I'm a chicken when it comes to electricity, I HATE to get shocked, so not sure how you check for that, other than putting your hand in the water. Yikes!!! Anyhow, he thought he lost everything, but later posted on his FB page that he has lots of babies left, and a few that are about 10", but he bought some new breeders last year, and fears most of them are gone.I had my cord with my other heater hung on the bridge and high winds would push the cord and cause the heater to lift out of the water
I have the same deicer I'm not sure it does the job because it gets trapped in ice and I have no way of telling if the tiny holes around the perimeter stay open...I was hoping that it would at least keep the water from freezing around itself200 watts but they also say they come in bigger wattages .You can get options for it also ,I read there are holders for those cut outs .So far it has not moved even with the heavy rains last night and the strong winds .Since it is so big it will keep a nice big hole open .I will see if the pond ices over again and see if it works like said.Fish have been checking it out View attachment 107620 View attachment 107621 View attachment 107622
