Yesterday was a beautiful day bicycle riding by the river. Still a bit chilly especially when riding. Lots of others out there enjoying our 1 day of sunshine too. Well today is still supposed to be kind of nice w/clouds in the mix but rain doesn't start till later today. 35 now.

@JBtheExplorer - how much snow did you get? I think you're north of me.

The storm seems to be a dud. We've gotten about 2", maybe 2.5" of snow and now it's sunny out. There is a heavy band of snow just north of here slowly heading in this direction. We'll have to wait and see if it increases our totals.

The Weather Channel is saying our area could see a snow storm next week, so that's something to keep in mind now.

but not worth all the build up!

I personally didn't see any build up to that storm, but I disagree with that statement. Meteorologists are here to make people aware of when conditions look right to produce bad weather. That never means things will end up exactly as they're predicted, but simply that conditions are favorable for expected weather. In this case, they were off just a little bit. Just north of me, they have nearly 10" and are still in a warning. That snow is slowly moving south and could give me another couple inches, which could bring my total to nearly 5", which is just short of their 6"-9" prediction. The general forecast was spot-on, but sometimes the specific location of the predicted weather isn't perfect. I appreciate knowing when weather is coming, even if weather decides to throw a curve ball.

I take no issue with the meteorologists - my cousin is one as is a former student of mine, both very smart people! - it's the news outlets that make is sound like the "END IS NEAR!" that make me cringe. It just feels a little too "boy who cried wolf" when it's screamed at you every time there's a chance of weather. Just give us the forecast and don't try to make it into a news story... until it is one!

lol you should live in the Washington DC area, any bit of snow, any hard rain storms they spend the entire day with cars on the roads, with news peeps, showing the rain, the snow, the branches down................non stop!

We only got maybe 2" of snow last night. It sure was pretty, and easy to walk in and only shoveled the sidewalk and deck, so that took all of less than 10 minutes. I'd like to see a good 6" snow this winter, too. We could use the moisture as well, and since my pasture pond got dug out this past fall, I'd like to see it get filled up this winter! LOL

We got quite a bit more snow overnight, at least another 4"-5" on top of yesterday's snow. Still snowing, but looks to be ending soon. Guess it's time to clean off the driveway again. Maybe I'll get that winter hike in today.

Fair enough. I think in some cases it's how its perceived rather than how its portrayed, or maybe the channel I watch just doesn't get all crazy about it. They report on it, tell us what's expected, what side of the street to park on, etc. I never really see anything reported as "the end is near", but I wouldn't be surprised if there were news outlets out there they do that.

Rain back but 49f is nice and getting up to 53. Anytime there is a possible big change in weather here the drama on the news goes all out w/horrid warnings!

We had wind one year that was supposed to be bad and one weather guy over dramatized himself out there holding on to a pole for dear life and flailing around like a rag doll. I don't think he ever lived that one down. People are still laughing.
