A brief morning sun break, but otherwise cloudy down here too. At least it's warming up a bit. I hope the cold weather the rest of the Western Hemisphere is receiving dissipates a bit; I saw today that all 50 states had areas reporting freezing temperatures ( Hawaii included, up in the highest mountains).

I thought that would make a good Canadian picture.
What would be the equivalent in the U.S.? - Minnesota?
Red Green was great.:)
In the U.S., I believe Fargo, North Dakota has characters equivalent to Mr. Green. Cops there even wear that same Elmer Fudd hat your "lovely wife" is modeling. ;)

it was about 25F again last night but there's no ice on the water at all. Good! I only have one pump going now.

Got a visit from may be 10 America Robins at the pond this morning too, drinking water from my container bogs (that's still running). Also saw a woodpecker flying around...

Four seasons to watch if I decide to play the catchup game. Is it a really good show?

What better things to do, except play catch up, when it is cold wet yucky outside...................

Ended up buying a heater for my pond today. probably should've taken a pic since its the "what does your pond look like" thread.

Anyway, anyone know if a heater & pump will get the job done? An aerator still isn't out of the question, but I may try heater & pump first.

I myself just use pumps and one heater for all three connecting ponds.
If your winters are long and cold, aerator are bad cause the lines tend to get condensation and then they freeze up and quit working.

MY Best suggestion is get good sized underwater filter and pump and have water directed towards the heater to evenly heat whole pond. You should be able to get away with 1250 watt green pond heater.

Mitch has a pond Breather, but if your pond is small and large fish, It could be risky. Then if your winters are cold the pond may freeze to much. It works for Mitch, but he has very large pond and very small fish.

My fish may be small in stature, but they are large in number.
