Opened the pond back up yesterday. This is this morning. Only the main pump is up and running.

My pond managed to stay green and lush until the extreme winter weather we had several weeks ago. I’m pretty sure most of my plants survived but, the foliage didn’t survive. I had to cut most of the leaves out and throw them in the fireplace. Some of the plants are showing signs of putting up new growth but others aren’t. Going to wait until late April to determine what’s dead and needs to be tossed. After that, I’ll begin buying new plants for the pond.

This morning around 8.00 am the water is nearly always crystal clear and we thin out the
oxygen weed as it grows like a fores,t in no time at all.Lonesome is not so shy now as we go near
to the pond a lot, unless we startle him he is happy to let us be close by.
The pump is basic without a dedicated filter..but buried somewhere in the rocks we constructed
to hide the pipes as well as making a feature for the fountain.
Many plants will grow soon, including some water lilies, so will look more natural again...

I was unable to vacuum the pond of all the leaves last year . And i have a lot of monstrous trees . The vac died and I was traveling so by the time i got home and got a new pump for the vac , the pond had frozen over. All those leaves sat in the pond all winter . now i know there's going to be an algae bloom. A t the start of the season so we will see in the extreme what will need to be done to resolve the issue.
