Lilies still blooming strong! They love the osmocote they get in the fall.

One of my hibiscus has huge flowers!

That reminds me - @JBtheExplorer do you find your cardinal flowers migrate around your yard? I have some that started at the edge of the pond that have now moved about 6 feet east. They aren't dying off - just relocating!

No. The one in my pond was the only surprise. All the rest were planted by me. I tend to collect most of the seed, so it'd be hard for them to self-seed.

How do you collect the seed and grow them over the winter? This is the first year I've been successful with cardiac flower and I'd like some more !

You'll see later in the season (or maybe soon for you) the seed pods will open up a bit and you should be able to see the tiny brown seeds inside. You can simply turn them upside down and shake them into a bag or container. From there, I put tons of seeds in a wet paper towel inside of a plastic bag for two months in the fridge, then I take them out of the fridge and they sit in a warm part of the house that gets a good amount of light. Usually takes a two or three weeks before they start growing. I have great success up to that point, but I struggle with transplanting the tiny seedlings into potting soil. They're so tiny and often seem to die off for reasons that are unknown to me.

My favorite way of producing more plants is to divide them each spring. The Cardinal Flower in my bog has produced a decent clump each year, so I usually take two or three little plants off of it and plant them elsewhere. I do the same with Great Blue Lobelia.

Hmmmmm, some of my cardinal plants are just getting past their peak.....I'll look to see if I see tiny seeds. This is the first year my Blue Lobelia has bloomed, although I would not call it a strong showing.

Great shot of that double rainbow! We had one yesterday evening, but I didn't get a good picture. And, no pot of gold over here, either.

Wish I had the time to fuss over the pond . But its still nice to come home to. As you can see i went for more color by plant shape and color then i did for flowers.

CRAZY ... YOUR CANNA TARRO DOING FAR BETTER THEN MINE . THEN AGAIN THEY DONT GET FULL SUN. That mass is beautufull. Clearly the bog is doing well for you and the parrot feather it obviously likes it over there dont let it in the bay or it will put you out of a job.

Thanks....Mine gets blasted with full sun pretty much all day long. yes without a doubt enlarging and rebuilding the bog was a good idea, as all my fish are reproducing like crazy. Part of the problem is the massive pickerel rush And parrot feather stands make the perfect nursery for the fry.....Haha that is true if the parrot feather could survive in brackish water it would take over.

If the fish don’t settle down I might end up in the next year or so seaming two liners together and doubling the size of the pond and making another large bog at the other end of the new pond fed with an intake bay....Then can abandon the original skimmer....also have 7 turtles in there now, so even as big as the pond is currently between the turtles and the large orfes, koi and catfish it is loaded with mess making poop machines.

Hate to say it but I came up with two more great ideas and that is to bring the end of the pond / sh-ts creek over to the bog only 15 feet away and that would be by gravity move the Main pump over to that point and pump the water up about 7 feet and 3 feet of horizontal . Drpoing head and pump size. And if I kept the monster 12000 gph I'd do a 6 foot waterfall out of the bog down to the pump. IVE GOT THE BUG BAD
