Pretty hot and humid today. Seems that when it's hot the pond comes alive. I see a lot more insects and animals coming for food and water. I also found a second young Green Frog, nearly the same size as the first, so I have 5 frogs in total now.

The Bullfrog nearly had a tasty snack today. It crawled out of the pond and stared up.

It was carefully watching my Blazing Star.

It's sights were set on a Red Admiral Butterfly.

It jumped, hit the exact spot the butterfly was sitting, but just missed. The frog landed in the pond, the butterfly took off.

Yesterday I had the same entertainment. One of the smaller bullfrogs was going after a bumblebee on the same plant and also missed twice.

Had to take another photo of my blue-eyed grass. The stuff keeps on blooming.

and my first Mexican Sunflower opened up today. They're great for attracting bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Last year I had them in my pond area, but they got up to 8' tall and 6' wide, so this year I have them on the other side of the fence, so they'll have all the room they need and they'll also become a natural barrier to block off the view of my neighbors yard.

Our first water hyacinth blooms have popped up. They don't usually bloom until August but our weather has been warm and dry since May.View attachment 83575View attachment 83576
Gosh darn it @Troutredds !! We live in the same area, and I cannot keep my hyacinth green (or alive) much less see a bloom! I'm so jealous. What's the secret?? Is it a lower pH? Or not having koi nibbling on the constantly?? LOL.
