never heard of a globe flower .I guess it likes colder weather and wet feet .I guess it would not do good here with our hot dry summers .

It's good up to zone 9b.
I had it in a spot that was fairly dry last year and it still did well.
If it does well in the bog I may try it as a pond marginal plant next year.

Nice plant jb, get extras and ship to your ponding friends!

Fed the monsters today, pond jumped up to 57 with the sun blasting down on it and the bog.
Fish ate like little pigs.

I really like the color of it .How big has it gotten for you

Not very big. I bought it as a small clump a couple years ago and last year it finally flowered. Hoping this year each half will be about the size it was last year.

I woke up to a weird noise. Sounded like someone was banging something. Then I thought I heard a faint quack but I was still mostly out of it.
I got up, looked out the window, and sure enough...
They're baaack.

They've gotta be getting old. same pair has shown up here every year for as long as I can remember. Last year was their first year with the new pond, and it was a huge upgrade for them compared to the neighbor's ditch.

Once they find you they come back jb .Thing is if they stay and have babies there babies will come back and then there babies .I see it here in farm ponds all the time . Over .2 years ago people on 58 put in a pond for there grandchildren to paddle boat on it and these ducks have made it there home .

Nice pond but you may have to go to a bigger one soon .You could do raised sides on it and go a foot or 2 higher and make it easier to work on .My liner is over concrete block and then the retaining wall holds the sides .Something like it would be pretty with your patio[/QUOTE

Thank you for the suggestions. We have just started to get our pond ready for summer. im afraid that if we need to make our pond bigger we will have to hire someone. Hubby and I are not quite up to that task in our golden years

I like my raised sides .It is 2 blocks high with dirt packed in the holes and rebar in them .This pic was before the second row went on .I was running out of time with bad weather coming in when I rebuilt it last year

Here's my pond on this rainy day.
IMG_1299.png

Between storms I decided to head out in the woods. Something caught my eye and I had to grab it. This fantastic piece of wood was laying off the trail.

I've probably walked past it hundreds of times while on the trail but for some reason I saw it today. With downpours last night and this morning, it was saturated with water and weight probably 30+ lbs... So here I am carrying 30 lbs of wood all the way back to my house, probably over a half mile. 30 lbs gets pretty have over a half mile. It was well worth it. I haven't decided if its going by my pond or by my birdbath, but I will definitely use it!
