I recall a conversation I had with my Father a few years ago:

"Son, I think I need a new PC."
"Why?"
"I'd think like one with a DVD writer."
"Well, I could fit a DVD writer to your existing PC, it's not that old and there's nothing wrong with it."
"OK, how much would it cost?"
"About £30. Why do you want a DVD writer all of a sudden?"
"Well Alf (Brother-in-law) has just bought a new PC, and it's got one. (Pause) What do you use it for?"
"Dad, if you don't know what it does, you don't need it."

He died last November, and I really miss these slightly surreal conversations.

My dad can top that, he went out bought a $175 super high speed router. But didn't want to switch from dial up. Said it cost too much?

Here high speed through century link is only 14.99 a month .I have a vampire witch on puter .Plus the worst is a cell phone and people claim it is there puter ,yeh not so much .My sister learned the hard way .

Anybody have a good ale lately? Well I have, local brewer too! This product has actually been around for years but wasn't sold retail, and I don't like to go to bars. But you can buy it in the store now, comes with a stout 6.2% alcohol so all I need is one. Icky.

They have 4 home brew festivals here 2 times a year .They are having one up in Roanoke VA now .I go up to a local winery on the way to the Hillsville town wide flea market and they make sparkling cherry wine .Only one I know that makes it so far and it is good .

Wow, love all your posts about parents and computers. My mom takes classes where she lives in a senior living complex. Or, she did until the last few years. She's really up to date on more stuff than me, or was. LOL She has a hard time typing, or breathing and typing takes some of that energy, so she waits for our calls weekly. There are 3 of her 6 kids that talk to her on a regular basis, and she loves our phone calls. She knows everything we are doing via Facebook, so she's up to date, right?! ;-)

The not so good banter .I have to go down to Duke Cancer hospital with my sister next week .The cough they have been treating her for is not pneumonia or bronchitis or any other things that they have stupidly been saying it was .The lung guy down at Duke while she was there found spots and now wants to do farther tests .But that word came up and Sharon being a nurse knows that it could be bad .The spots are also in her lymph nodes .I hope it is not and hope they are wrong .I HOPE I REALLY HOPE .She is my best friend ever .
