I recall a conversation I had with my Father a few years ago:
"Son, I think I need a new PC."
"Why?"
"I'd think like one with a DVD writer."
"Well, I could fit a DVD writer to your existing PC, it's not that old and there's nothing wrong with it."
"OK, how much would it cost?"
"About £30. Why do you want a DVD writer all of a sudden?"
"Well Alf (Brother-in-law) has just bought a new PC, and it's got one. (Pause) What do you use it for?"
"Dad, if you don't know what it does, you don't need it."
He died last November, and I really miss these slightly surreal conversations.
