Thanks, Sissy and Addy. I think I pulled a muscle, as it was my right arm, and right shoulder blade. I took the Alleve, then figured ibupropen would have been probably better choice if swollen muscle. Still little sore, and I did have that feeling of taking deep breath and it hurt, and wondered about heart! But, I felt fine, just that stabbing pain in my back. I have not had the guts to raise my arm over my head again, just to see if it would happen again, though! Tonight it's just a very light dull pain, nothing bad. Have not taken anything since this morning, so it will be fine. I've never had a spasm, closest was charly horse in leg, but they never were very bad. Some people get that kind of thing all the time, and how awful that would be.
One or more ice pacts may help. I have a part artifical, part restructured left shoulder. During mega terrible pain I take four gel cap Advil's twice a day (doctor approved) along with ice packs. Helps.

Thanks, Lou. My boss has LOTS of back issues, and she said when this happens to her, she lays down on wood floor. I don't think my problem (yes, it's still lingering ...) is my spine like hers, though. All was fine all day yesterday, except dull ache. Slept well, tested shoulder laying all different ways, no pain. Got up this morning (mind you, after getting up several times to use the bathroom ...) and boom, it's back! Took 3 Advil, think that may work better, but going to take Alleve with me to work, too. If I push my shoulder blades together in the back, it relieves the pain altogether. I think I just pulled a muscle, but have no idea why it flared up this morning when I got up! Going out for girls weekend Sat/Sun, so I sure don't want this lingering around to cause me pain. Maybe a few of these will help ...

Just make sure you do not take any non aspirin pain relievers with that drink .It causes the stuff to break down faster which can cause lots of other problems for your stomach and kidneys .

Hope it is just a muscle problem and if so it will just take some time to heal. I get something like that once in awhile w/ my shoulder and think the cold has something to do w/ mine. Neck gets stiff some time too...................gotta get my oil can out

Dr. Lou suggests your youth may be hiding when those pains occur. :)

I think I just need to be more busy and doing things. Been rainy day, all day, maybe that has something to do with it. We joke that my boss is a barometer, always knows when it's going to rain, her ears start hurting or filling up with fluid, or so she says. I'm heading to bed, this is just really sucky, gotten worse as the day went on. No drinking while taking any pain relievers, that's for certain. But, took 2 alleve after taking 3 Advil this morning, and still nothing helping. Also took 3 more Advil this afternoon and 2 more Alleve, and that's ODing it, cause Alleve supposed to last 12 hours. Oops! Better just find something cold or warm to lay on in bed and rest it.

All jokes aside CE, you should not intermix Advil and Alleve according to my Pharmacist, GP and Orthopedic Surgeon.

Oh, well crap! That may be why my stomach is a little yucky feeling. I do remember Motrin and Advil for my kids to drop high fever temps, so figured Advil and Alleve might work together, too. Thanks!!!
