I was in school in NJ, Elizabeth Avenue Grade school and was 10 years old and we were watching the parade in Texas on TV so we could do book reports on what the Kennedy family and what the president meant to us .We heard it first hand and remember the teacher screaming and then the announcement was made that school was letting out early because of it and when I went outside to the bus I remember the flag blowing and it was at half mast .Came home and dad was sitting outside waiting and we went to the store and bought our first black and white tv and I helped dad carry it into the house and darn thing was heavy and big but picture screen was tiny .But it was a tv .

Very interesting Sissy, I am sure the moment is still very Vivid in your head.... Amazing how we can forget what we did yesterday, but on that day, many people will never forget ...

I was not born until 65. I really enjoyed reading your touching memory Sissy.

I still have that report and got a A++ and we ended up being given 3 things we had to put on our report what we were doing and if we watched the funeral and how we felt about it all .I still even have the receipt for the tv my dad bought because I included what my dad and I did that fateful day .He paid 45 dollars because it was a floor model and that was a lot of money back then .

I was 13 yrs old and in 8th grade language arts class when the announcement was made over our speakers. Everyone was so shocked and in tears. I still have a newspaper from when he died.

Nov. 22, 1963. Vincent Massey Public School, Oshawa, Ontario. Grade 8. The door was flung open, and a breathless kid yelled "President Kennedy has been shot! By a BLACK MAN!!!" Rumours start fast, don't they? I remember that day as if it had been yesterday.

Hey Haro you must be the same age as me. What fun we could have had in school together! Were you one of those kids who spouted off funny things in class and had the class in an uproar and then got in trouble for it or are you just that way now?

No, I was VERY well-behaved. Shy to the point of rediculosity! As I (ahem) MATURE, I seem to be getting somewhat more outspoken. I've always had a warped sense of humour, however.
John
BTW, is rediculosity a real word? I can't find my Funk & Wagnall's. And FWIW, I was 13 at the time.

Chiropractor said pulled muscle, spasm causing all the pain. I thought a spasm was something that was moving ... spazzing! Well I guess not! Anyhow, finally got home, took a hydrocodone, and it seems to be helping with the pain, nothing else had touched it so far. Hoping to still be able to go tomorrow, and everyone tells me tonight will be worst after chiropractor did her thing ... vibrating massager thingy, hurt like heck, but felt good too, if that's possible ... then I should start to feeling better. I'm hoping that along with the "drugs" will be what it needs to heal. I won't do any lifting or putting arm over my shoulder height, and keeping elbow close to body, like the doctor told me. Really tired, so heading to bed. Hoping rest will do it wonders! :goodnight:
