Lou, why would you leave anything and paint over it, if you don't want it? Can't you cut it off at the ground level, spray the stub with Roundup or something similar to kill it, and then get rid of any growth on your house? It must be something that is VERY difficult to remove!
The new siding and windows look fantastic! Love the colors and that the windows kind of stick out from the siding.
We had the vines removed several years back. Poisoned each root system. After vine removal we had the soffit intensely power washed. What remained were the fingers. Those are the very tips of the top of the vines. The fingers secure the vines vertically. The fingers actually bored their way into the soffit material. These tenacious fingers can pierce most any material. Even brick. One attached those little fingers require destructive fore to remove, I.e. steel brush which would destroy the facing material on the soffit.

Replacing the soffit is very expensive. Replacing the soffit, fascia and gutters costs at least as much as the siding. Lucily, the fingers are only on the north side soffit. The painter may remove more. Regardless, the new paint job will help some.

Turned out so very nice Lou and I didn't even notice those dark spots. After you take what you can off and cover it all up you prolly won't even see it at all. I have let some house plants crawl up a wall in our house and I learned to not let them do that before they ruined the wall. Amazing how a little plant has such strong little grabbers on them.

Oh, now I understand what you're talking about, Lou! Makes total sense. But, I'm like JW, I looked back at the pics twice now, and don't even see any of the dark spots. I'm certain you see them, as you have had to deal with them, but I don't see them and I'm looking for them! I think all will be totally vanished once things are painted.

OK, if there is a cat in the first pic, I sure don't see it! :cheerful: And, if you take the pics with your phone the other direction (up and down if you normally take it sideways, or visa versa) how does it upload then? Otherwise, after you take the pic, there surely is a way to "edit" the pic so that it's flipped correctly. No problem I just turn my computer screen.
