make sure to drain, remove media, and clean your filter and cover it for the winter. you dont want water freezing, expanding, and cracking your filters housing. the structural integrity of the stocktank may have been compromised due to cutting the top lip off .see mine, its actually strong

Gosh wonder what old man winter has in store for us this year after all the bad weather we have had this past summer .I hear we are supposed to get chiller by the end of the week ,but so far still in the higher 80's .Mogsie I have to say I cannot believe your pond is new ,it looks like it has always been there and your fish look great and I like the blue light in your waterfall .

Addy, here is the area I would like to be a bog(yes very small area where the thermometer is)..it was intended to be a bog but it's not lol...the fish can go in there when I fill my pond to the top but I really didn't want them to because of the raccoons and such..so are you saying build up dirt behind the liner and then add more liner over?

sorry so slow on replying we have been working on pond protection, getting lines plumbed in, and almost ready to cut the liner for the skimmer! yeah, before the leaves start falling1

If you want that area bigger, I would dig the size you want it to be. Get a piece of liner to fit it. Have the new holes (bog) edge higher than the pond edge by a little. This would make it easier to create a water proof seal between the two liners, the bog liner overlapping the pond liner. It could also be the same level, just make sure you seal the liners together well.

Blessedfamily-- I'm going to journal it on my pond blog, I ordered the liner and underlayment on Ebay today... 10' x 15' for 124.00. Includes shipping. Don't know if that's good or not, but I don't have any place local I can get it. I will take pictures as I go along, it will probably be a slow process :)
I was going to get some blocks today on my way home from work, but my hubby took my SUV to a golf tournement with his buddies this morning. Will definately be picking some up tomorrow and start shaping it up.

beaya....we are here to help, or at least try to...every pond is different and theres no "one size fits all" formula. we can merely tell you what works for us, and hope if you do it, it will for you as well. best of luck, Mark

Seems you have to try different things before you get something that works for you .I know I have went through enough media stuff before I landed on something that works for me .So I agree with koiguy trial and error .Your welcome mogsie you have a right to ne proud of your pond as you must be lucky or you have a ponding thumb LOL.

You have tons of lovely plants mogsie and how do you manage to keep the duckweed in your pond. My fish gobble it up as soon as it goes in or else it just disappears for some reason. Like your little room off the pond where you can sit and enjoy the pond even if it's raining!

Just call him tmann................. and he doesn't even complain about it. You can call me jw for short :D
