thanks JW, the duckweed takes over so fast i have to take several nets full out every week and throw it in the compost heap, the fish nibble at it but not much ! next year will be better for the plants as they will be established by then and much bigger, and the bamboo will be up by next year ! yeah the little room as you call it is great as it has wind protection and plastic on the roof so it is shower proof and that is where the outdoor fireplace is !

tmann it is then...... lol

i have some duck weed, but not much, think the fish enjoy eating the stuff, It grows in the bog and slowly migrates to the pond.

I saw that clay pipe and wondered about using flue pipe .I have a piece I picked up on one of my little field trips of scrap hunting .It is rectangular shaped and is about 12 inches wide by 4 inches and 24 inches long ,but was wondering if it would change the water quality but guess that was answered now .Thats one bunch of lush plants you have there mogsie .

it is just land drain pipe, farmers used to use it round here but now they are changing to plastic when they can and are pleased to get rid of the stuff, ime planning on getting some more of it and using it to build a wine rack into the kitchen wall,

oh geeze thanks a lot tmann but think I will pass on driving that far .I also have 1 of those pvc porch posts ,it has a metal sleeve inside that just slips out and is rectangular shaped .What I was thinking of doing was putting the clay flue pipe in the pond for the fish to hide in and a place to raise my pump .I was not sure about changing my water quality .You would be amazed at what people throw out .Hey tmann build yourself an out door fireplace

You would want to file the edges down as they are very sharp. I had the same idea but just haven't done anything with them yet. I put a clay strawberry pot in my pond a few years ago for my small fish to hide in. It never had any effect on my pond now it is only about 25% the size of a flue.

Mogsie that first shot looked like a blazing furnace! I have thought about it but I am running out of space to build one without taking up more of my grass, which I already don't have much left. I also thought about making planters out of them, placing them in the landscaping, filling them up with dirt and have vining annuals hang over them. Who knows maybe when they actually get in my way in the garage I will do something with them..

Baeya I was just looking at your showcase and have a question about the bog you are planting. Are you putting those block on just soil or do you have any crushed gravel under them? Not sure if you will get frost heave with them or not, don't know your zone, you may have thought of that already.
